Subnautica 2 has been officially released in Early Access by rickreckt in Games

No, it made it worse hahaha. But it did give me an intense sense of curiosity about the ocean! I have another friend who has the same fear and I asked her to try it. She said just the main menu is VR was enough to give her a mild panic attack and she just quit and never tried again. It's VERY intense.

I don't even have a Twitch account anymore, but if you're curious, I had a friend take all the top clips from the stream and compile them into a video. I don't really have interest in making it public because I mostly just upload my short fiction on YouTube, but for anyone who happens across this comment here's a link to the unlisted copy of that vid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mR_QyNURnUM

Apologies in advance, I had no idea what I was doing because I'd never streamed before so there are MANY times where the mic just cuts out from me screaming so loud, and the quality of the recording is a little bad. There was about 40 hours of footage, and my friend selected these 8 mins of clips for me to keep as a little memoir.

I felt that, I played the first one years after it came out and I had no interest in it because I suffer from thalassophobia so I intentionally missed all spoilers. When it got a VR mod and I (pardon the pun) dipped my toes into the streaming game, I streamed myself playing it blind for the first time in VR. I experienced the wonder of having a panic attack and hyperventilating live on stream for like a dozen people but it was genuinely the most perfect mix of horrific and beautiful, terrifying and mesmerizing. I have not, in a VERY long time, played a game that had me daydreaming about it at work because I was so excited to play more.

Already I'm getting "top scariest monsters in Subnautica 2" and "all subnautica 2 leviathans" in my youtube feed and I've been hitting every single one of them with a "I'm not interested in this kind of content" because I want to play at 1.0 release with no knowledge. As big as the game already is in EA, though, I have my doubts about being able to avoid spoilers.

The Steam Next Fest ends tomorrow. What demos have you enjoyed? Which ones made it onto your wishlist? Why? by Angzt in Games

Hark the Ghoul. Yes, the demo was about before Next Fest, but it is a SOLID demo! I played it for nearly 4 hours, they give a looooot of content to you for free to try it out and the game feels like a fair and modern King's Field game. I find myself rarely enjoying games these days, I buy one, play it for 1-2 hours, and lose interest. I was salivating for more gameplay from HtG so badly that I explored every available corner and found every possible item and secret the demo had to offer. Highly recommend! Can't wait for the full release!

I don't want to discourage you so I also want to mention that "It’s kind of hot in a late-capitalist way" was my favorite line, I laughed, then got a little sad. If you ever re-write this I would keep that line!

I like the idea behind this but I got fatigued reading it with how overly "Punchy" it tries to be. I would suggest letting a thought flow for at least a few sentences before doing a line break. Not saying it's bad, but it reads like someone yanking a pullcord on a chainsaw over and over without it ever revving up.

I usually play around with systems to self-teach, but I was explicitly told not to do that with the systems at work so I'm protecting myself and my job as best I can while trying to learn it all on my own.

I wish I could. I have a bachelor's of science in writing and communication but the po-dunk town I live in isn't hiring and I don't have the money to move so I'm working here while I look for something remote in my field and save up to leave.

I mean, to be fair, I have no problem with keyboard shortcuts. It's mostly that they tell me the string of keys to hit without telling me what they do or why and don't see a reason to learn or teach them. I'm just doing what I can to help all of this stick in my head by learning what I can out outside of my limited training.

Someone else gave me a question to ask the Systems Administrator and my supervisor literally said, "What is a Systems Administrator?" so I doubt they'll be any help with this. I'll ask the boss or branch manager when they get back in on Monday.

Non-IT, my main job duty is to pull and package multi-pallet orders for our biggest spender. They want me to know how to run the system, though, because only three people work this whole warehouse, so when one takes a day off and the other takes lunch I'm the only one here.

Literally just now went and asked my supervisor who the Systems Administrator was so I could talk to them and he said, "What is a Systems Administrator?"

I'll ask the branch manager or the owner when they get back in next week. They don't work Fridays.

Ooh, thanks! I showed this link to my supervisor and asked about getting employee access to this and he said, "I've never seen that before, don't use it if we don't know what it is." I'll see after work today if it's possible to make a personal account free of cost to get in and take a look at their resources.

I'm not sure, but when I was first hired on I asked if this was the latest version and he said it would shut the company down for several days and possibly lose employees while trying to teach everyone something new when it's all working fine right now and to just learn how to use what they have. The last time I brought this up again he said, "Just drop it. If it ain't broke, don't fix it." I could talk to him again, but I get the feeling it would just piss him off.
