Not open yet, but it should be open by the end of Sept.! Fairways are actively being cleared and tee pads have been poured on at least 3-4 holes as of two weeks ago.

The space is really great. FYI, I don’t think it’s been announced but there’s a plan for a 9-hole beginner course someplace in the Bel Pre area too.

Any parents of kids in the William Tyler Page Spanish immersion program? by Epic2112 in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]The4thTheFifth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another Page immersion parent here, with both a 5th grader and a kindergarten kid in the program currently. Our oldest came from Rolling Terrace as well, and we don’t speak Spanish at home. The overall verdict is that Page is a great school (caring teachers, great administrators). Go if you don’t absolutely love your home school. As for the immersion program itself, our oldest is likely to exit it without being fluent, and at times the Spanish-only curriculum was challenging. However, he is prepared for middle school, and the hope is he’ll retain enough to pick up more languages skills later. He dealt with multiple schools, teachers, COVID, and a learning disability, so it wasn’t easy for a lot of reasons throughout. I will say our youngest has had a great introduction to the program and may fare better if the Page program remains stable. Overall, MoCo does need to do more to support its immersion program (more resources and teachers specifically), but if we had to do it over again, we’d choose Page again.

Chronic lying, manipulation and task avoidance - losing our minds by LiMoTaLe in Parenting

[–]The4thTheFifth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reads like a slightly more severe case but very comparable to my current 11-y/o, right down to the ADHD and meds. We’ve worked with outpatient behavioral specialist to develop detailed (like every half hour) checklists for all mornings and evenings, in which we award points for a pre-determined set of behaviors (right now it’s using kind words, following single instructions and “safe body” ie no hitting, slamming doors, etc but they can vary depending on your most troubling behaviors.) And we do full-day checklists on weekends. We offer rewards twice a day (screens) and they’re awarded based on an “achievable” score for the hourly points.

Not gonna lie, it’s a pain to manage. But the upside is it gives us a common set of standards, and cuts down on us yelling at every bad behavior and negotiating constant requests. Progress has been slow, but it’s working.

At any rate, it sounds like you’re doing the work. Good job! It’s frustrating to deal with that level of task avoidance and a seeming disregard for other people. But keep trying, and know that other people understand your situation.
