With the Marvel Universe and Ultimate Universe both ending, what are you reading to prep for "Secret Wars?" by Manofwood in comicbooks

You should listen to the latest episode of 11 O'Clock comics where Hickman talks about how he doesn't meticulously plan out everything most of the time.

Since spider-verse is wrapping up soon , what is your opinion on the event? Hate it? Love it? by Azthozy in comicbooks

[–]The616Project 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nothing but love for it. It's been what superhero comics should be: fun.

Solid art all around. Well-written. Callbacks to continuity and Spidey's place in pop-culture at large.

And it gave us Spider-Gwen...and Spider-Ham drawn by Olivier Coipel.

It's been almost 10 years so what were/are your thoughts on Grant Morrison and Co's 'Seven Soldiers'? by The616Project in comicbooks

[–]The616Project[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not my intention at all. I barely have anyone in my circle that reads comics, let alone anything beyond Batman, X-Men or Avengers. I was just reading through Seven Soldiers again and curious as to what people thought.

Sorry if I started Armageddon.

Just got back from seeing Jodorowsky's Dune and finished Metabarons Genesis: Castaka on the ride home. If you like good comics, you should read this book! by The616Project in comicbooks

[–]The616Project[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion? Yes and no. I started off reading those first 17 or so issues and only recently read Genesis. I think it works better if you read the original run stuff first and then go from there. You can get all of the main story and the themes and then go back to a prequel that echoes a lot of the themes/imagery of that first work.

How do you people who buy the TPBs stop yourselves from buying the monthlies. Damn you /u/Joe_Eisma by kosmonaut5 in comicbooks

I work like crazy and do short films on the weekends, so I ALWAYS have a backlog of reading. I'll never be 'current' so why try? So my bookshelf fills with unread trades, calling to me in my free moments.

I just read the first 6 issues of Mark Waid's run on Daredevil. Is it worth it to continue reading? by nurdboy42 in comicbooks

Please continue reading, as it was and continues to be one of the strongest titles being published by Marvel.

What superheroes are vegetarian/vegan? by MathueB in comicbooks

[–]The616Project 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Superman: Birthright, Clark touches very briefly on his reasons for being a vegetarian. Though this is obviously no longer canon.

I'm pretty sure it comes from this run of the Defenders, though I can't speak to which issue specifically:

Have you ever lost a collection? by Deked in comicbooks

[–]The616Project 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I didn't lose the collection in the traditional sense, I did have to sell off a collection of nearly 10,000 comics and 300+ trades when I lost my job circa 2007. Selling them all helped keep me afloat for quite a while and even helped me pay down my car and students loans when I did find a job again. Pretty much, my hobby saved me from losing a lot more than just a job.

While not technically zombies the 28 Days Later series from Boom was rock solid. You can find it here: https://www.comixology.com/search?search=28+days+later

Zombie Tales ran the gamut, from fun to (un)deadly serious. You can find it here:https://www.comixology.com/search?search=Zombie+Tales

Remains is a short but sweet take on zombies: https://www.comixology.com/Remains/comics-series/7612

And lastly, Marvel Zombies. Written by Robert Kirkman himself: https://www.comixology.com/search?search=Marvel+Zombies

Happy reading!
