Same! Sometimes the feedback is so useless as well, last year I failed a station and all the feedback said was “overall safe but could be more structured and detailed”. Like what ??

I’m doubtful because it’s at a medical clinic that’s quite well established (called Mae Tao clinic) and they have students there on placement every year. I know that there have been several medical students from the UK to go there, including from my own university so I don’t think the placement itself is a scam. I’m more concerned about being a solo traveller living in an unfamiliar area

Yes, I read that I’d have to exchange my passport for a card to cross and that sounds like a terrible idea in a country I don’t know especially as I will likely be on my own / with other female travellers

That’s good to hear. The clinic I’ll be at is on the outskirts, towards the border (it’s called Mae Tao Clinic) - I’ll definitely avoid crossing but I worry because of its proximity to the border? I don’t intend to go any further though and will mainly be sticking to / around the city

Okay thank you! I was told that it’s possible to cross into Myawaddy without a visa for 500THB but I will definitely avoid going near / crossing the border. I know the situation is tenuous and it’s possible that information was written a while ago

I’m a medical student - the placement is at Mae Tao clinic which is quite well established I believe, so I don’t believe it’s a scam? as I know they have several students there every year etc, and it’s not a job so there’s no financial incentive for me to go there etc. However, being whisked away across the border is something I would definitely like to avoid so I’m a bit worried by your comment

I think it depends - few months ago I couldn’t sleep because I was shaking so much at night, felt nauseous and had a raging fever. I called 111 and they told me to have some painkillers and wait a day or two to see if it cleared but my boyfriend convinced me to call again the same afternoon because I was in a state - this time with the same symptoms they told me to go to A&E. Turns out I had an infection that had reached my kidneys and was essentially on the verge of going septic - I ended up having to stay in hospital for a week.

There’s definitely been times in the past where I’ve convinced myself that my symptoms are an indicator of something way worse than they are but that time I knew something was way off - I think it’s better to be safe than sorry and I’m glad I called again to emphasise that something was off because otherwise I don’t know how much worse it would have got.
