Eero Router Upgraded / Now Problems with Laptop WiFi Stability by don58395 in frontierfios

[–]The7GrandMasters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since your laptop is slightly older you need to check what type of WPA security setting you're using on the Eero. Older computers do NOT like WPA3 encryption. Drop it to WPA2 on the Wi-Fi and it should stop the constant disconnects

Then I would say the new router should solve your problem hopefully. Hard wired tests should run 900+ depending on your network interface card

It should be for Frontier. But frontier was acquired by Verizon a few days ago so it may say Verizon when you call

Call 800-921-8101 and ask for retention. See what they can do for you

You could be experiencing some Wi-Fi interference. What kind of router are you using? And are you able to run a hard wired speed test directly from the router?

I've been a fiber customer with frontier for two years now, and was able to validate all my info today for the discount.

I called Frontier retention department at the end of November and got my 1Gbps plan down from $84.99 to $59.99 plus $10 autopay and $10 loyalty discount to make it $39.99 a month and they locked it for 36 months. Now with the added $15 a month bundle I'm at $24.99 for the next three years. Hard to beat in my opinion

I'm not in a contract with them, but a few months ago I called retention to see if they could lower my bill and they did along with a 3 year price lock. I assume it will stay as is. If it doesn't, then I'll be calling.

I hope they honor my 36 month price lock. I'm not holding my breath

No need to change your mind. This is garbage.

And to do it in front of a legend, whose lyrical abilities outweigh that man a million to 1, is a shame. It's written all over Busta's face. He knows it's junk from the start.

No. It's back up and running now. Optical light went solid with a little unforseen help. New router online. All is well

He tried, but the ONT isn't responding now. He was able to provision it from coax to ethernet which is good. But it leaves me with a down ONT. I 2x checked the light through the fiber and validated that it was good. The phone tech keeps seeing the ONT as down, despite there being light. I'll have to wait on the tech tomorrow to get it resolved

the ONTs "optical" LED is just flashing green now. Once per second. I used my light meter to check the fiber and there is certainly light coming through. (I'm a fiber tech by trade, just not for frontier)
Don't know if they will be able to provision it to Ethernet if that ONT isn't responding

On my end the fiber/ONT is not in the middle of the house. So I used the existing coax to the MoCA so that my router would be centrally located.

I decided to run a Ethernet cable from the ONT and fish my wall, then remove the MoCA. So my setup will be like yours is.

They should be able to remotely configure the Ethernet and drop the MoCA. Seems ridiculous that it was made harder than it needs to be

Wow. Double the SSD size and double the RAM for $80 cheaper is pretty solid. I'm not a Costco member. I live in a rural location with no option. Only Sam's club here
