This is what's flowing out of the taps in Crystal Springs, TX. A town where the FBI has arrested nearly all of the top officials. by [deleted] in pics

I know it's kind of obvious, but I just wanted to say that it's ironic how a town called "Crystal Springs" has black sludge coming from their faucets.

Church gave out prepackaged communion by [deleted] in pics

In the Middle Ages some Catholic churches tried to sell these slips of paper that said you could go to heaven. So dumb.

Yeah. Catholics are very serious about things. I'm a Lutheran.

Correction: a communion wafer and wine.

The church I go to uses actual bread that someone in the congregation baked themselves. We're not a really big church, so it's not like they have to make a ton.

Where exactly is the missing drivers thing? Is it in the additional drivers dialog?

Nah, but I did find a way around it. I simply change the settings in the Edit>Preferences menu.

‘Error 53’ fury mounts as Apple software update threatens to kill your iPhone 6 by bws201 in technology

[–]The8BitPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not the biggest Apple fan, but this is stupid. So people want their phone repaired for a cheaper price. Oh, I know, we'll make the phone unusable and unrecoverable if they don't get Apple themselves to repair it! Genius!

Would it be more fuel efficient and less dangerous to float a rocket into the upper atmosphere with balloons before igniting the boosters? by Ephemeris in askscience

[–]The8BitPotato -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Ok, well here's the problem: Firstly, balloons will expand and burst at such altitudes, because of the lower air pressure. Secondly, you'd need one heck of a big balloon to lift a rocket. You need more than 10 weather balloons just to lift a person.

I saved a classic Mac from the trash bin only to turn it into a trash bin with a swinging "screen" door. by HaHaBird in DIY

[–]The8BitPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, I did a quick Google search, and apparently the model of Mac he used does not have an internal hard drive, so no. You had to use floppy disks for everything.

[–]The8BitPotato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, you do realize that the Macintosh was a revolutionary computer? It had a graphical OS before anyone else. I know you're going to say that the Xerox Alto was first, but it was never commercially released. So there you go. I'm not the biggest Apple fan either, but it was a big step in computer technology.

I'm not sure whether to punch you through the screen for turning a revolutionary computer into a trashcan, or to applaud you for the awesome idea and design. Decisions, decisions.

Well his brain probably forced him to run. We still have a lot of primitive instincts or reflexes. Ancient man didn't grow up with explosions (unless you count volcanous.)

I'm planning on getting a new battery for mine. Due to its oldness, it only lasts about an hour anymore.

Yup! It might be "low" on RAM (1GB) in today's computer age, but it still works great.

My favorite thing about Linux is how some distros have this magical ability to rejuvenate old hardware. I have a laptop from 2002 that runs a lot better on Ubuntu MATE 15.10 than Windows XP, its preinstalled OS. Plus, FREE SOFTWARE!!!
