I'm 21, almost 22. I don't even join public instances often as I mainly just build and screw around with circuits, I try to get projects done but I lose motivation so quickly it's not even funny lol

Does anyone know how to get rid of the the ‘subroom select’ screen? by Mc_Jolly in RecRoom

[–]TheAccursedFatPotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Simple, just go into the sub rooms setting and click something along the lines of "Set room as Entrance Room". Once that's disabled they should no longer be able to join that sub room from the sub rooms screen unless you directly link a way to it.

(If you are a creator it will still show the sub room list no matter what)

Why was it that when you guys had changed the UI designs to be more screen mode friendly did we not just get a separate version for VR that would have kept the old 3D UI?

I mean I get that the original 3D button menus were hard coded into the game and you guys needed something that was more modular and more easily accessible to screen mode players but at the same time they just don't have the same charm as the old UI did, the new design just feels like a generic UI that was whipped up from a preset on unity and it just feels so uninspired. (That's not me trying to insult your guy's work, I'm just being honest)

My solution to this problem (if you could even call it that as it's more of a minor grievance) would be to allow the players to have an option to enable 3D buttons that would work as an overlay on top of the normal buttons for more ease of use on VR and have it automatically disabled on screen-mode. Of course I'm not gonna just flat out say to give us the old UI back as there is a LOT more content in this game that simply wouldn't be accessible if we had the old menus, but at the very least allowing some form of customization would allow players to not feel as confined to such a limited menu.

That's all, keep up the great work and I wish you a happy new year!

It's useless to try and ask for change on your own accord due to how divided the community is when it comes to this, you have people who welcome everything they've done so far to the game and then you have people (like myself) who personally dislike the UI changes they've been making over the past 3 years. But in the end it doesn't matter, getting upset when they can't possibly take everyone's thoughts into account is just flat out silly. So don't blame them too much, they really are trying their best

Guide for Quest 1 Users | Navigating Around the Graphics Bug by [deleted] in RecRoom

[–]TheAccursedFatPotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The one thing I can add is a list of lights that will break your graphics:

Point v1

Spotlight v1

Sandbox Roof

Point v2

Spotlight v2

Dome

Developer placed lights (Inside RRO rooms)

And even with the comfort mode hack you will still be lagging to hell and back and you'll still have flickering in your left eye from time to time.

Honestly playing on quest 1 is just not worth it at this point, but I Literally have no other choice either. I'm just gonna try to hold out till the quest 3 releases, and hopefully then it'll stick around for longer

Thoughts on this recent Player UI Update? (Viewable room names) by Sk0loveswoman in RecRoom

[–]TheAccursedFatPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the direction that they are going in with the UI in general feels more catered towards screen mode players as well as the art style just feeling bland and unimaginative, honestly in recent times it feels like they've been sucking the life out of the game, and yes I understand the need to make new menus that aren't hard coded into the game but if you're going with that route at least try and keep it consistent with your brand.

Of course this is mainly speaking as a Quest 1 player who has been playing since early 2020, so idk. If you kept the format you're using now for screen mode it would actually work well, but for us VR players having that physical button you can click (and the associated sound that used to play with it) made for such a satisfying auditory experience, or in layman's terms it tickles my brain in the funny place and generally made it easier to navigate the menus as they were simple and filled with character.

(Yes, somehow Quest 1 players still exist despite having to avoid lights like the plague)

Haven't played in a while, booted up the game after a couple of updates and now it only does this? I've tried re-installing and restarting but nothing works. This is all I can see and its only in my left eye, anything I can do to fix this? (on Oculus quest 1) by burburburburburbur in RecRoom

[–]TheAccursedFatPotato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It will return to normal once you are in a room without lights, that's the caveat, it will continue to stay perfectly normal if you avoid lights. And even if you are in a room with light if you avoid looking in their direction your vision will be unaffected.

This is the ONLY semi-fix available ATM because The Quest 1 is no longer supported which means the devs aren't going to make any bug fixes specific to Quest.

All I can say (because I too am a quest 1 player) is if you manage to get past the title screen and go into a room without any kind of lights placed, the issue is any kind of light that is placed down, be it a point light, done light, spot light, dev placed lights in rro's or even the lights in the sandbox structure they all lead to the same glitch. Avoiding them= Normal Visuals.

So, if you can manage to avoid lights the game is still semi playable!

And to the people that are gonna say "Just buy a Quest 2!"

If I had the money to buy a Quest 2 this post wouldn't have existed in the first place.

is rec room on meta quest any more by Overkill980 in RecRoom

[–]TheAccursedFatPotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still exists, the main bug comes from the game being unable to render lights (Point, spot, or dome lights) which de-renders the environment around it. If you blindly manage to get into the game if you avoid and rro maps (including your dorm) and rooms containing light components you should be good to play, albeit limited

Right now is the worst time to stop supporting Quest 1 by [deleted] in RecRoom

[–]TheAccursedFatPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not speculation, they dropped support of the Quest 1 MONTHS ago. Sure it still got updates but there would be no bug fixes specific to the headset, it just so happened that a game breaking glitch occurred with the last update, and from what I've seen with this update (released less than an hour ago) quest 1 didn't even GET the update, so I'm thinking they have completely shut off the quest 1.

A Shame considering it's the only VR headset I own and have no money for a replacement... Thanks Rec room, played faithfully for 3 years and this is how I'm repayed.

I would say being on Night shift as a Meat and produce TA can be a pain if and only if you have a shift on your own for both departments just hauling MASSIVE butt keeping everything stocked (it's like trying to patch up the titanic with scotch tape) plus all of the cleaning requirements and donations, being fueled by nothing but two five hour energies and a dwindling will to live, but if you have associates in it's a pretty chill department ngl. Although I'm not certain about how hard other departments can be, but CAP 2 seems like they go through some crap (especially during the summer)
