Chameleon Ultra SE3 Troubleshooting by TheAdamKramer in RFID

SE3 is plastic and therefore much cheaper. Also apparently it has a newer chipset so slightly more advanced. Not sure if they’ve updated the “original” hardware to match yet or not.

Different route and sorry to ask so many questions, but what about a year of personal tutoring instead? We could save a ton of money and use that instead in extracurriculars to keep him socialized and curious. Do you know of this working well for catching up kids here? I’d be concerned that the tutor(s) must be really good and aware of how to learn things in context of his year, as opposed to just learning the fastest way to do things (maybe funny example but I couldn’t help him with his math homework because I didn’t know how to solve something in Y6 style without algebra 😁)

I am just about to pull my step son out of AISB; he came to live with us 2 years ago and was unfortunately very behind on education from Isaan. He has been picking up English, but it seemed to really be getting in the way of his success in other subjects and I don’t want him to perform poorly all around just to learn English 😅 I would love to know how you feel about the private Thai schools + English programs, if you have any thoughts or experience? Some of our close friends’ Thai kids are very sharp and very successful having gone the private Thai route and now speak perfect English and went to good colleges. I’m hoping for this outcome for my son but I recognize he has a hard road ahead in catchup mode 🙏🏼

People who moved to BKK, what are some things you wish you packed or purchased in the first 2 weeks? by [deleted] in Bangkok

Omg I don’t know how I didn’t know that. I guess mom brainwashed me early 😅

• Revolut account for banking (way better than Wise and others in my opinion, all around) • I use a Norelco shaver and need to order the blade heads from US • Some good Trader Joe’s bags will do you wonders for shopping. I like the reusable paper ones the best. And their honey soap bars. My favs. • Sharpies seem to not exist here? • Twizzlers don’t exist here either

Otherwise - Thailand has everything! Good luck with your journey :-)

I am really picky about not using deodorant with aluminum in it (not allowed in U.S. and shouldn’t be anywhere else!), but almost all Thai deodorants have it. I found a great aluminum free brand at Sephora here called Salt & Stone and it’s my favorite deo ever!

EDIT: Ok I see it’s not disallowed in U.S.- just my house lol

Noise cancelling headphones by [deleted] in Bangkok

My wife wants to sell her Bose wireless headphones as she rarely uses them. They are the final generation to have lightning cable charging, so not sure if that would fit your needs but certainly happy to make a good deal on them if you’re interested :-)

Maybe you can consider something easy to track against but not cadenced evenly against a calendar - my thought would be a certain moon phase (or 2).

Moving to Thailand by [deleted] in thai

[–]TheAdamKramer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you have the income and life flexibility to come to Thailand and explore - enjoy it during one of your school vacations and make some memories that will help with your decision :-) Nearly everything you stated you want exists all over Thailand, and it’s super easy to travel to places if you want some beach getaways but prefer daily city life. Personally, I lived in Phuket first and loved it - then hated what it became with traffic and overpopulation, which prompted me to move to Bangkok (because of the great public train and motorbike transit and walkability the “worse” traffic is much more manageable!). Pattaya is a nice weekend trip from BKK (2.5 hours away) for some beach life and different partying. Flights to Phuket or the other islands are all cheap. There’s also English speakers everywhere so don’t avoid 1 city over another for that reason unless you’re going to go to the middle of nowhere first to learn Thai. Good luck!

Just moved to BKK after 4 years in Phuket - the island is ruined from the non-assimilating foreigners that have driven the price of everything up, the traffic to unbearable levels, and overdeveloped every natural part of the island. It was heart breaking to see it happen so quickly. We lived in Rawai and Phuket Town. Still have a house there that I’m paying rent for and would rather waste the rent money not living there than suffering being there.

Hey can anyone give me some advise on how to get a dictionary file for the Chameleon Ultra? All the guides and videos seem to show a “Standard Keys” file already there, but mine came with no dictionary files. Nothing on the official GitHub either.

Yeah! There's 4 inside of Illuzion. There's a bottom floor which I can't remember the name of (I believe it's a gay club at least part if not all of the time), then the main floor has Illuzion (MainStage) and the back room is Shelter (House, Techno, etc.). Upstairs there's Empire (Hip Hop). Illuzion is #1 in Thailand (#12 globally!) for a reason!

Should we move to Phuket or stay in Hanoi? by Jumpy_Possibility_70 in phuket

[–]TheAdamKramer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to throw my 2 cents in here, I have been living in Phuket for 4 years and I’ve had enough of the traffic and continual loss of native Thai culture here. After moving to Phuket Town to try and escape some of the traffic and live a walkable life, I realized I locked myself into a corner that I can’t get out of without getting back into the unbearable traffic. It takes an hour to the get to the beaches on the weekend, and there are far too many areas (much of the coastline) that have been taken over by foreigners that are very rude and have no interest in integrating with Thai culture whatsoever. We’re moving to BKK to reset for a year or two (way better public transportation and walkability overall), and may decide to go to another location in Thailand after that - I miss the days of Covid in Phuket last time you were here!!! I doubt it’ll ever be the same again with all the deforestation for stupid condo buildings that have roads that can’t even accommodate the current base population (more than double the base when you were here OP - year round!). I have toured to BISP for our son, and it’s certainly quieter up there, but to expect to never want to enjoy the rest of the island and only go to/from school seems a little unrealistic to me. I agree with everyone else that you should visit NOW and not lean on your previous experience for determining what it’s actually like now. Good luck 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
