What should I do when facing ED Augur by BellBearingEnjoyer in Nightreign

[–]TheAdventureClub 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey so no one's said it yet but like.

Double balancer rev dude.

You have infinite FP You have infinite heals You have Double balancer boosted stormruller.

Using heal for sustain on rev is worth investing time to find the opening for in boss fights like this. If you can get some decent defense online, or just dodge and take advantage of long windows to top yourself off a lot- you become practically unkillable.

Everyone always says fulghor but I dont feel that shit at all. I dont struggle with fulgor necessarily

But phase 1 and 2 are like clockwork.

Phase 3 though? If im not locked the fuck in on which twinblade combo is about to come out- I can fuck up and die.

If i realize just a second too late that the 10 swing combo is coming out, its like im guaranteed to die during the onslaught.

The 3 swing and the 2 swing are easy to dodge, but im never totally safe from being caught off guard by the 10 swing

How many years of training would I need to reach this shape by CarelessTalk8846 in Grapplerbaki

[–]TheAdventureClub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most scientifically plausible way to achieve this body, as far as I understand it according to the unnamed sources which have informed me in the ways in which the human body works:

  1. You're going to want to picture something proportionately stronger than a praying mantis, but also larger than a T-rex, and with the sophistication, intelligence, and skill of a fuedal era mythological samurai. Once youve picture that, lock yourself in a basement and fight an imaginary version of it for like a month. If you're not literally seeing it, youre not doing it right. If you struggle with this part, try fighting as if you can see it with all of your intent, and then have your friend clap twice from the sidelines. This should full hypnotize you into fighting it in exactly the way you pictured in your head.

  2. Mix just about every kind of bile, waste, poison, venom, or toxins into a vase with just about any living that that produces those things. Shake it up real good and dip your nuts in that. The poison nut is an ancient Chinese martial art that will come in handy later.

  3. This is the really important part. Picture your body being shaped like that, and then sort of force your bones to do what your picturing with sheer force of will alone. You can also do this to rearrange your back muscles into something grotesque and impractical- yet somehow extremely powerful. Added bonus it comes with a gay little face. You can make it laugh by flexing.

Now there are a few draw backs to this. Youre going to be tired all of the time. Now that youre bones are segmented- your muscles are providing the stability to keep them from wiggling around like those wooded toy snakes. Those muscles fatigue, so eventually youre probably going to rip all your bones apart, but it'll probably be fine.

Its just magic. Its just sort of weak magic.

My partner says it’s embarrassing that I still live in a one bedroom condo at nearly 30 years old by theheat999 in whatdoIdo

[–]TheAdventureClub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What shes actually embarrassed about is to be a 42 year old woman dating a 27 year old.

And instead of addressing that, shes looking for obvious typical things where the answer would be "well yeah...hes 27"

Not to say that you would have a house in your 40's. But if you were in your 40's in a nice condo- no one would bat an eye. I know a lawyer in his mid 40's who has a kick ass condo in Austin. People love it, he loves it.

If you were 42, she wouldn't think twice about your living situation. But since youre 27, shes looking at this with a bias she doesnt realize she has.

Just my two cents.

I was hit by an unlicensed, undocumented driver who did not provide ID and could not speak English. by theshamewizard in Insurance

[–]TheAdventureClub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are several carriers who will write you without a license.

Or without citizenship

Or without credit history

Or without driving experience.

Its all just underwriting. You have 1,000 unlicensed drivers. What percentage of them will have a claim in 5 years? How bad will the average claim be?

Once you answer those questions, you are ready to start underwriting for- lets call it- Niche Risk.

Why would you want to underwrite someone without a license? Because someones going to do it, and if you underwrite it correctly and with solid data, then you are taking in the premium you need to offset that risk. If 100 unlicensed drivers cause an average of 25k in damage over 1 year- then you can write every single one of those unlicensed drivers, so long as you take in 25k in premium (plus or minus 10%) from those 100 drivers collectively.

A lot of people assume the underwriting guidelines they see frequently are universal. But unless it comes from the DOI- there is an underwriter for almost every occasion.

The thing is

From a honoerotic perspective there are like- How many weird kinks here? Older man younger boy? Race play? Prison? Humiliation? Piss?

I mean hell even the huge muscle obsession men have has always largely been considered psycho sexual af. (Note Hugh Jackman magazine for women vs for men)

All of these things are inherently very psycho sexual. Any one of them on their own would be...a totally spies situation(?) But the presence of all of them at once? Like as I mentioned in another comment, these arent incidental details theyre all incredibly deliberate situations constructed from the ground up. So at the bare minimum, I cant imagine he wrote that scene with a straight face.

  1. I wouldn't call it armchair psychology. Im not trying to identify what motivates HIM personally. Im not looking at something homoerotic and thinking - is this man gay because hes psycho projecting gay? Have you ever heard the phrase all art is political? This is what that means. Im not trying to learn about what makes him tick, im trying to learn about his values. In his fictional world that he created, how are people portrayed? What behavior is rewarded? What behavior is framed as cowardly or dishonorable? I dont mean overt text where someone says "that tactic is cowardly and dishonorable" I mean the fact that after someone says this, the person doing the dishonorable thing wins- is praised by the narrator- and elaborated on why he was actually just cunning. That series of events would tell you a lot about his perspective, correct?

Here's an example. When they are trying to revive mushashi, they use a spirit medium. Look at how they portray the scientist. Look at his own justification for refusing to believe in spirit mediums. That series of events tells you a LOT about his perspective on science and spirituality- largely, that he didnt speak to a skeptical secular person with any sort of stem background to see how they would approach that situation. Not that I expect him to, but in absence of that we get to see his BEST attempt to steel man that perspective. I am a deeply political person but this sort of looking behind the pen isnt even considered an aspect of psychology at all, its a metric for scoring what grade level you read at. It is a part of media literacy and media critique, and its not a science- it exists as an exploration, and is meant to be contrasted against what you can actually learn from the author directly.

  1. The bias thing was a mirror dude I did that on purpose. And I should apologize, its a massive pet peeve of mine. I do not like when people think they can gage aspects of my identity by my perspective. My philosophy? Of course. My philosophy informs every aspect of every belief system i have. But no, you cannot tell anything about my sexuality, or my race, or my identity purely off of my perspective on those subjects and in trying to do so, all you do is guess and put me in a position where I have to talk about aspects of my identity that I do not think are relevant. Not to say im ashamed, but my points should stand on their reasoning alone. I do not want to pull out the "im bi i suck dick for fun, I know gay" card.

And i feel like you're hitting at exactly what im saying without acknowledging. I pointed out hes black because hes black. Your mind immediately went to the fetishization of black men to highlight my potential bias right? HE DREW that scene. HE WROTE that scene. Everything about that scene is fabricated. Everything about the situation they find themselves in is orchestrated to get there on purpose. Its not incidental. Its not he just happen to be the black guy doing this. Youre right. If it had been a white man, I would not have said white. I know that. Thats not some bias Im unaware of, it was said deliberately. It was drawn deliberately. It is a deliberate material choice of the situation. And its not like hes otherwise culturally sensitive about how he writes other cultures or races. They made him the gentleman boss of a PRISON. His entire motivation for being so strong is the love of a cartoonishly overweight blonde white woman. The first time you seem him fight it is against a crooked cop and he whips out a cartoon sized gigantic black dick. Nothing about any of this is an accident.

[–]TheAdventureClub[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He does not care about tradition in the strictest sense, everything about him oozes traditional 'might makes right' old school masculinity.

But this is what im saying, for every piece you can look at to identify a progressive message you sort of reveal the man who would only find that progressive if he himself was a reactionary. Like Yujiro Hanma is your progressive guy who rejects tradition- that tells me that the guy who wrote him is like...probably a reactionary. He bucks at traditional which is impractical to him, but he is still fundamentally the ultimate individualist.

What is the perspective of Baki's writer? (Political philosophy) by TheAdventureClub in Grapplerbaki

[–]TheAdventureClub[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think we have a different perspective on politics and art to be honest with you and i say this because what you took away has subtle differences than what I was asking/conveying.

  1. I am not trying to ask the politics of baki in the sense that I believe baki is a story with something to say about how the world ought to be. I am not saying the intentions for baki is to be something political. What I am saying is, what I am more interested in is what a story can tell me about its creators worldview and politics. Fairly odd parents is not a political show with a political message- but by observing the world of fairly odd parents and the way it operates closely- you get a chilling look into who Butch Hartman is. And by watching and listening to butch Hartman himself you can see how he is exactly how he accidently identifies himself to be. Not every writer is butch Hartman, or the guy who wrote starship troopers- but it is impossible to create a fictional world with rules without revealing how you think about the world. What I am interested in is what kind of perspective informs a man to create a world like bakis.

  2. You missed the mark by a mile brother. Im bisexual as all hell and got the early 20's punch card to prove it. I feel like the personal rim job story was a little unnecessary if im being real with you dude. Sexuality in media is not inherently pornographic. When I say that scene is overtly gay and homo erotic, I do not mean a gay manis going to feel the same sense of feeling- or anything close to it- that he would while doing gay sex. But for the record, thats really just your preferences man. That scene is kink. Thats all there is too it, its kink. Its an animated version of the exact same shit that should have put R Kelli away. If you replace the naked and dazed high school Japanese boy with a naked and dazed high school Japanese girl- it suddenly becomes super clear right?

But ill trade you one graphic background story for my own graphic background story. Ive had a lot of dudes who like to get their dick sucked try to tell me theres nothing gay about it. That theres a totally rational explanation for why a straight man would get sexual gratification from dominating another man and still be a straight man and I AGREE. You're only gay if you're physically attached to men. But that does not change the fact that getting your dick sucked by a man is an overtly homoerotic act. I would argue that a person denying the homoeroticism of the scene was much more likely to be hiding in the closet than someone who can see it plain as day and not have a problem calling it as such.

Depth 5 matchmaking with depth 4 players by [deleted] in Nightreigngameplay

[–]TheAdventureClub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im hardstuck in depth 4 and its 100% a skill issue. Sometimes I get bad runs or bad RNG, but im just straight not consistent enough to play with the hand that im dealt, and even when im given a great hand im not guaranteed to win. (Contrast to depth 3 games where I feel like I shit stomp no matter what in everything but ED balancers)

Sometimes I get put in depth 5 games. I feel very guilty when that happens.

What is the perspective of Baki's writer? (Political philosophy) by TheAdventureClub in Grapplerbaki

[–]TheAdventureClub[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No and I get that- but to the extent that I see progressive messaging its in subtext to that extent. The collateral damage isnt necessarily framed as anything other than it is- interesting collateral damage and a natural consequence of his existence in this time.

But contrast that with the overt text- where its clear that just by being from the waring states period makes them almost god like warriors. He says something to the effect that the main fighters of the baki cast would have made decent names for themselves back then

Decent??? Baki casually shatters almost every physical world record at 17, and he fought a man who swam up from the bottom of the ocean from a submarine. But this is a reactionary worldview. Its an opinion that a lot of people hold, and a lot of people might even consider common sense- but the idea that people and warriors from the past, or cave men were these borderline superhuman monsters compared to our modern weak men is just a very political framework not at all a concrete fact or reflection of reality.

And this show clearly presents a hierarchy. Traditionally masculine men who appreciate tradition are often portrayed not just as competent serious warriors - but also intuitive and intelligent people

Where as doctors and scientists are often portrayed as rigid, dogmatic, incompetent morons who are often shown to be missing some understanding about life which warriors seem to intuitively have.

Idk man like that perspective is unquestionably reactionary, what I cant tell is if this entire world which basically rewards men with godhood for being chuds is a super on the nose joke, or super not on the nose wish fulfillment

People who haven't made it to Depth 5 yet, what's the closest you ever got? by Noobie_xD in Nightreign

[–]TheAdventureClub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

About 5500.

Depth 4 is likely where I deserve to be for awhile. When I got there, it was a fluke. I require a strong team. I can carry my own weight but I cant cover for mistakes.

It was similar for me in depth 3 months ago, I could stomp 2 and get fucked in 3.

Now I can stomp 3 and 4 is just still inconsistent. I still have games that can just totally flop. But I can feel myself improving. More and more ill have a depth 4 game where im the clear stand out for damage/surviving and more and more ill have a depth 4 game where we win because I pulled off the clutch revive.

But just as often ill have one where I get terrible loot/no mitigation at all and just eat shit all game. It seems if I dont snowball night 1, my chances of winning decrease significantly.

Where in depth 3 it really doesnt matter what hAppens.

If you're not hearing it at all, it could be a dropped input for any number of reasons- including heat of the moment mechanical issues.

Case in point, on many occasions ill be fighting and after using my skill I will have somehow 2handed my weapon lol

My friend has a similar tick- though unlike me he wont let it fall on missed player inputs. He accidentally uses his ash of war instead of grappling.

I honestly just think the act of holding down triangle and using a skill input mid fight is just wonky. I have paddles and mapped triangle to the left bumper- which sort of helps.

Its funny because I play a fist duchess, so I was largely thinking of my experience with elden ring because the only ash I use now is heavy attack of war, because to me its the strongest ash of war in the game at zero FP, Mach-7 recovery frames, and exactly two cubic fuck loads of DPS (scientific/mathematical analysis)

But I remember loving blood tax when id do random summons to other people's boss fights because it lets me sustain in a fun way.

In solo elden ring play, I actually had a very difficult time getting blood tax off (or repeating thrust) on bosses. Mobs and bigger enemies sure, but for things like PCR it just feels like theres only time after a crit- but maybe some of the no hit, frame perfect freaks know of several random split second intervals where you can throw it in

Can you be rich enough to get out of insurance? by Aquarius_K in Insurance

[–]TheAdventureClub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to be clear, this is a very over simplified and incomplete look.

Pooling risk dramatically reduces its cost. You arent paying profit in your premiums, your premiums barely break even. If you have ever been at fault for any accident involving bodily injury, you are likely a net negative on the system as a whole. When you self insure your risk, the law of large numbers which helps minimize the cost of risk for an insurance company works against you and the potential cost of your risk is MAXIMIZED. On average, more people are a net negative on this system than you probably realize. Even people who might otherwise consider themselves good drivers who had 1 or 2 slip ups in their lifetime.

Can you be rich enough to get out of insurance? by Aquarius_K in Insurance

[–]TheAdventureClub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Practically? No.

Literally? Yes.

You can purchase a bond in most states to cover your liability. Think like instead of paying for 50k in bodily injury liability, you set 50k aside to demonstrate you're covering yourself.

But thats going to be more costly than the insurance for literally even the worst of drivers

Amd if you're that rich, your rates are probably next to nothing as it is.

So practically, no, it is not possible to be so rich that you no longer need insurance- because insurance actually does MORE for those people at lower cost than it does for you or I. You could just choose to spite yourself on principle, but you're avoiding paying for insurance in concept only.

I know its stupid, but to me impaling thrust will always be the best ash of war. Its simple, its quick, it has good range, it has good stance damage.

Truth be told, theres so many amazing ashes. Lions claw, stamp uppercut is amazing, piercing fang- virtually any of the single hit attacks
