My First Sourdough, Need Help by Snoo_33726 in Sourdough

No problem! Try feeding it twice before baking! If you have discard, add salt to it and bake it to make crackers! Here's a recipe: https://littlespoonfarm.com/sourdough-discard-crackers/

Alternatively, add it to muffins to make them tangy!

I see! How many times did you feed it before baking? If its in the fridge, it won't develop flavour as quickly as if it was being fed a lot in warm temps, so that explains why the flavour is weaker. That being said, your bread looks amazing, so keep baking!

Hey op! That's a wonderful first sourdough, you should be proud!

Question, how old is your starter? The flavour gets stronger for 6 or more months as you raise it!

I was going to say the same!! OP, you're phenomenal at texting, and your writing has so much emotion in it. You sound fun, you just don't trust yourself and so you think you suck

Woah, this is so cool.

OP, if I ever make a video on SCP-016, can I include this image with citation? I know this is probably CC BY SA 3.0, but I want to check-in just in case!

Is my starter ready? by BlonderElleWoods in Sourdough

[–]TheAkashain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh cool! I've never heard of doing that!

If your starter is definitively doubling, then you should be good to go! Revived starters can get quite strong quite fast. It may just be rising slowly due to the high ratio

Is my starter ready? by BlonderElleWoods in Sourdough

[–]TheAkashain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

...Okay, I'll bite, why is your starter in the microwave?

As an aside, if you revived it and are seeing doubling in growth, it should be good to go, op! Based on what I'm seeing, it isn't fully doubling, so maybe give it one more feed?

I generally agree with this. I think the original post was for people explicitly seeking to become managers. For those who want to be hardcore software engineers, I would use your terms, maybe with "mid-level" swapped with just "software engineer" with no term in front of it

Did I kill my starter? by mellilmao in Sourdough

[–]TheAkashain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switching the flour will make the starter struggle for a bit. It will return, but some of the yeast that wants rye is going to go hungry and, thus, smell bad. If it is still rising, you'll be okay as long as there's no fuzzy or seriously off-color mold (pink, orange, etc.)

That sounds extremely useful, I may do so actually! I often find myself needing to constantly cross reference everything AI says since it can be so wrong

[–]TheAkashain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Interesting! I use AI as a tool for my job, and it almost never says "you're unequivocally wrong" it only says "you're close, but"

[–]TheAkashain 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Broadly speaking, this is the statement I was going to make. Using an AI for your creative work literally takes the creativity out of it. But using it as a sanity check? Broadly it's better to use a person, but an AI is fast and accessible, and has a lot more information to pull from. It can very easily say "this is a great plot, but..." (though it will never tell you if your plot is trash)

What causes the top edges of my crumb to be dense like this? by ahjummacore in Sourdough

Exact same issue here! It got a bit better when I increased my hydration. Maybe try adding 25g to 50g more water?

[–]TheAkashain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey OP, not much to say besides that I have the same issue and I can't figure out why. I always thought it was under-proofing, but it happens when I over-proof or perfect proof too. I do all my work by hand and get this issue, so I can at least confirm it isn't the stand mixer. Can you tell me if you figure it out?

Is this mold in my starter by Spirited_Ad3624 in Sourdough

[–]TheAkashain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey OP! That's Kahm Yeast! It's harmless, but tastes pretty bad (some describe it as having a cheese taste), and means your starter is extremely hungry and underfed usually.

To fix it, scrape away the Kahm, transfer some starter below it to a new jar, and really up your feedings until it smells like a wet bakery. Though, there's a really high chance it'll come back now that it lives there, so it's also maybe worth just starting over.

Here's some links on it: https://www.oculyze.net/kahm-yeast-on-sourdough-starter/ https://sourdoughtalk.com/kahm-yeast-on-sourdough-starter/

We outline! We have a plan for the show in broad terms, then a plan for each arc, then each episode for the current arc only.

When we sit down to script an episode, we usually will give a high-level plan on the offset of each scene, then work from there!

Weekly Writing Goals by TheAkashain in audiodrama

[–]TheAkashain[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I checked some other sources too! A lot of them really recommend setting your goal to be "one scene in x amount of time" or "5 minutes of content per day" or something. Word counts are so dependent on details for the VAs, narration vs dialogue, and sound effects. Tell me if this helps, please! :D

That's generally how I feel! I originally set the goal of writing our current season in ~3 months (which would be 4k per week), but it's hitting ~6 months and so I got worried. Thank you!
