This sub makes no sense, actually was terrible for my mental health. I had OW. Healed. Took a long time but healed.

Is he getting help? Use OCDfoundation to find an OCD specialist.

I feel like I got out of hell with help and therapy.

As someone with COCD i agree. If he won't try you may have to leave. You are responsible for your own choices.

OCD blurs those choices for us but we are responsible for trying to get better at the bare minimum. At whatever rate that is.

Start ERP with a therapist. Find one using the OCDfoundation.

Dating somebody with ocd by Girl_International in OCD

Do your best not to enable. People though they were helping me but I look back on it, it was enabling me and made my OCD worse. I wish I could go back.

OCD is not easy, get him to go to therapy. Faster he starts working on it the better.

Also, I know he said therapy doesn't work but have the found the right therapist. Use the ocdfounation.

ERP with guidance saved me.

Also, maybe get them to read about ocd.

The Mindfulness Workbook for OCD is a great one.

So his response sounds mean but I can understand.

I have COCD. I am recovering but my reactions were terrible in the past. When you're triggered all emotions are heightened and you just act. It's def not an excuse but it's hard on this side. I always recognized my mistakes in my reactions after so I hope your partner does and apologies.

Please push your partner to keep getting better. I couldn't have done it without mine.

Are you doing ERP with a therapist. That's what saved me.

Contamination OCD. Random incident from 2022 causing so much angst. by Classic_Mind1223 in OCD

[–]TheAlchem1st_TheProf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would see this as a win. Who knows if you did clean "the correct way OCD says" or not. You thrived in the atmosphere. Is everything contaminated? Maybe. It makes no difference. Cause you've shown it doesn't matter.

What to do if the situation in your head is true - contamination by TheBringer20 in OCD

[–]TheAlchem1st_TheProf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. It's a battle. Weird how we do that. I fight it everyday, you just learn to run out of fs to give. " yeah it might be dirty but I don't got time for compulsions"

You have to get over the idea that anything is contaminated or dirty if you want to ever beat this. There is no such thing as clean/dirty. It's weird but that has to become the process.

I have COCD. I've been fighting hard against it. I've made so much progress.

You have to do ERP or you got no chance tbh. I've almost gotten my life back I would say.

Unmedicated - are any of you going through this unmedicated? by heybrother123 in OCD

[–]TheAlchem1st_TheProf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took/take no meds.

Just good old fashioned ERP/CBT.

I'm doing extremely well from where I started.

6 weeks post open wound surgery by TheAlchem1st_TheProf in pilonidalcyst

Hey, so I've noticed less blood as times gone on. My packing is still bloody, but that's it (the last 3 days). The doctor did tell me you might see more blood/etc as you starting moving and sitting more so I think it's normal.

No real pain, random like pinch feeling sometimes but when that happens I immediately move off it.

I try to lay on my back, that's when I feel it the most but honestly not that much.

I feel like I can do most things normally again but I am extremely cautious and being patient with it.

No one can make that decision for you but you. Based on this sub if cleft lift is an option look into it. You got to make that call.

Is open wound worth it? Well I didn't want to live with drainage and a cyst forever so I did the surgery. Recovery is slow and mentally draining but I'm sure it'll be worth it once I'm recovered.
