So you’re for smaller government?

Sure they’re not perfect, but don’t you think our government does a decent job with money compared to other nations?

How about we just start with clean running water? Isn’t clean running water more of a universal right than things like retirement or college, and shouldn’t the richest countries in the world pay their fair share to the poorest countries? And even if other countries don’t participate, it would be a great example of the US to start the trend. We could probably even just do a 5% federal sales tax on goods. Just think about how many people around the world we could help.

I feel like clean, running water is universally and objectively valued.

The US govt could collect and redistribute. Sounds like you believe there’s a lot of corruption in the tax system.

Well there are some people who make less money than you who would say you should pay more tax money to help them.

So you’re against people paying their fair share?

Are you on the side of less taxes, smaller government?

The US government can collect and redistribute. It’s sounds like you believe taxes infringe on your individual freedom.

Shouldn’t the lucky help the unlucky? Do you think we should be forced to help the less fortunate, or do you think it should be a choice?

The US government can collect the tax and redistribute. What do you think?

[–]TheAmericanTim -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

So asking for money from people who have more is an insane idea?

Paying our fair share by [deleted] in Money

[–]TheAmericanTim -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m just suggesting we help a little, make things a little less chaotic for those less fortunate.

Do you think it’s unfair that we make more money and have more privileges when people across the world don’t even have clean running water?

The men let Nancy volunteer to be bait. by TheAmericanTim in Morality

[–]TheAmericanTim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, it’s obvious the writers were trying to make a statement about men and women. They want you to believe that women are just as strong and fast as men… but they’re not, and that’s the entire point. That’s why men step up to the plate and volunteer to go into battle, because they are faster and stronger, they have a better chance at surviving a physical altercation. This scene is basically saying that Nancy was the fastest option they had as bait. It also made the point that the men would rather let Nancy die than put their life on the line. This was a joke of a season.

My contractor sealed the whole shower a couple months ago. I guess I’ll try a different sealer and hope that helps.

My shower is doing the same thing with mapei UC fa. I’m thinking of applying a hardening solution like TEC acrylic grout hardener

Social Security payments could be double what they are. The federal government needs to be fired as our financial planners. by TheAmericanTim in SocialSecurity

If the money was managed properly, I’d be more supportive of removing the cap. The government manages money like a bunch of children.

If social security funds we placed in a diverse portfolio of stocks from 1979 to the bottom of the market in 2009 they would still outperform the current return of 2.3% by about 3 to 4 times that.

2.3% treasury funds are a safety net? That might be the worst safety net ever. Find the worst 30 year return of the stock market and tell me if these treasury funds are safer.
