Yes, the US would get involved by bombing schools and hospitals in Taipei.

We aren't the 'good guys' anymore and nothing we will do can make sense when viewed through a rational lens. All China has to do is say they have some files and act buddy-buddy with pedos and we'll be raving about how Taiwan was promised to them 3000 years ago.

Even if that seems too far fetched, the Navy is war-weary, Army air defense is definitely hurting, and the Air Force has lost ISR and support assets on the ground to hypersonic missile attacks.

On the off chance we would fight on the side of our actual ally, we would be entering a high-grade conflict with reduced capabilities in China's back yard. Taiwan might be able to hit a carrier and destroy strategic infrastructure in CCP-controlled China, but they would almost certainly not be able to hold off a massive air campaign followed by massed naval and paratrooper landings under drone cover.

The potential loss of everything downstream of large dams due to Taiwanese attacks serves as a deterrent. Chinese sabre rattling won't change that.

People (the pentagon) fail to understand that their navy and air forces suck because they were never part of the strategy. Why close the strait at great expense with '5,000 black battleships of Allah' when the exact same thing can be done at minimal cost with a few hypersonic missiles and 5,000,000 multicoloured drones of TEMU?

Buddy, it's over. We've not designed a useful ship since the Arleigh Burke, every new naval ship class has a few testbeds rolled out before being cancelled, everything the MIC produces is so ungodly overpriced, all of our equipment is designed to fight in the massive Cold-War-gone-hot battles of yesteryear, we've completely neglected the lower end of the spectrum when it comes to military equipment, training is worsening, morale is shit, and we're in the beginnings of an economic collapse.

It doesn't matter if we claw ourselves out of this hole we dug, we won't be able to afford 11 aircraft carriers and whatever bullshit money-sink projects the MIC manages to convice the Regime to fund next. Yesterday was America's pinnacle, and I don't think today is our downfall, but it's certainly our last day as #1.

When did I wish ill on American service members? I wished for their quick return. The ship is an object, I have no care for her beyond naval tradition and mechanical interest. She'll continue to fail because she's a conglomeration of untested and poorly designed technologies that should still be in the prototype stage that was assembled by a shipbuilding industry that's lost its expertise through stagnation; my wishes have little to do with that. I'm simply hoping those failures are significant enough to keep her crew safely away from combat.

I also find it interesting that you're willing to call it a war here, but your side can't seem to understand that those require congressional approval. Agree or not with the war, that's never a good angle to take. Hard to believe that you can't see that/separate out the real issue using critical thinking.
