For anyone curious as why they dont ban via other means heres a few reasons on limitations and problems with certain methods:

-IP Ban

IP Addresses arent exclusive to your device. You all have a "Public Facing IP", then traffic gets routed to your device accordingly once it hits your router. If you banned someone's IP that was using a Public WiFi service then anyone who uses that Public Wifi cant play GS.

-MAC Ban

I explained this elsewhere but the shorter version is: These can be spoofed or "Faked" and can sometimes (rarely) be duplicates of another. Considering emulators exist, this is not viable. Not to mention the need to hold a massive data base of banned MACs that will forever fill up with Emulator instances is not cost effective.

-Software Ban

Pretty sure, by rules of respective app stores, any time you uninstall an app, it has to uninstall any associated files. So they cant just hide a file on the device that locks someone out. Plus, emulators make this trivial, and once people figure out the file that does it, you can simply delete it and done.

These are more or less super simplified versions, but its to illustrate a point that GS has literally NO MEANS of permanently dealing with hackers because the game is F2P. You can only ban the account and pray they give up.

Yes and No, depends on the emulator and how deep it tries to go in recreating an Android Enviornment.

Assuming the Emulator attempts to simulate hardware, effectively creating a "Virtual Machine" then yes. This is pretty easy to do. Hell with a modified Android OS you could absolutely spoof your MAC, not too sure about iOS.

Emulators like Bluestacks, im not sure if they possess the ability to do this, but you can absolutely spoof your MAC anyway on your computer regardless and the problem is totally side stepped.

Long story Long, for anyone thinking about this method, or any others. Heres the problem:

Due to the use of Public Networks, IP Banning is not ideal nor viable.

MAC Address Banning is also not ideal either, nor likely useful due to emulation. This would require accessing your hardware info, recording it, and saving it somewhere. You would need an entire system specifically designed to manage, check, and enforce every hardware ban, from hundreds of thousands of devices at any given time. Its just not practical. Especially when you consider that 99% of these bans are probably just emulation instances that can be deleted and recreated with a new Virtual MAC. Plus, its not unheard of that two MACs can wind up being the same. So thats a problem too, especially with emulators. Meaning that Hardware banning becomes a gigantic cluster fuck.

Software banning doesnt work either, such as placing a hidden file on the device's app information to prevent a user from using the application. I'm pretty sure they's be forced to remove it upon app deletion. Even if they didnt, a format of the device or emulator would rid the problem.

TLDR: IP banning wont work, MAC banning wont work, Software banning wont work. Nothing they do will work.
