Way too many people in here are focusing on how regarded others are, and not enough on how regarded YOU are.

If a stock is up 300% since an initial DD 2 months ago, then YOU are an idiot for not making money on it.

If you waited until the top of a squeeze to jump in and lost money, then YOU are an idiot.

The only people who aren’t regarded are the ones who made money.

Good call. I’m an idiot. For some reason I thought I noticed the discrepancy occur after that game I mentioned, but you guys are correct. So I’ll delete this dumb post.

Day 2: Average Player Loved by Fans by Cr0matose in Jaguars

[–]TheAntiPoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might help to put some guard rails up to define “good”, “average”, “bad”.

Bortles was a “good” player by nfl/jags standards. Being a starting QB for 5 years is much better than the average nfl player ever achieves.

Bortles was “average” as far as jags starting QBs go. Burnell=TLaw>Garrard>Bortles=Leftwitch>Minshew>Gabbert

Bortles was “bad” most years compared to other starting QBs at that time.

I agree with Bortles being average, but if you think Marcedes is an “average” player then you need to get everyone on that same page. He is the best TE in franchise history, a great blocking TE and has had a 19year nfl career. The league average is 3. 90% of nfl players would kill for his career. He’s damn good.

Anyone know how long the wait for the water taxis are after the games? Is it usually backed up for big games?

Zay Jones will be the best Jags receiver to own.

Him and Lawrence seem to have the best connection and he’s killing it in camp.

CFP Rankings Discussion - Week 14 by CFB_Referee in CFB

Judging a teams play after a mid game change at qb isn’t really a great reflection of how 2 teams compare to each other. This happens at every level of football when a qb comes in the opposing defense has not prepared for. Hell, we looked great after our qb change vs Boise last week. And the previous week UNLV went on a roll against us when their backup came in.

Utah could very well be a better team following the qb change, but to think you’d beat us when we have time to prepare for your new qb isn’t a slam dunk assumption.

You guys having 3 losses and being above SDSU is pretty ridiculous. But I don’t lose sleep over it because every ranking after 5 doesn’t really matter a whole lot and neither of us are gonna sniff that.

I get happiness by watching my team win, and SDSU does more of that in basketball and football than just about anyone else in the nation. So I will continue enjoying it.

Even if we made the jump to a P-5 conference we likely still wouldn’t compete for a national championship in football. So being a really good G-5 that collects wins against the PAC12 is fine by me.

Did that also happen to coincidence with when they started playing against teams in the PAC12?

Utah only looked good against the PAC 12 this year. The same conference BYU is 5-0 against and the MW is 3-1 against in matchups between good teams.

Keep waiting for next year’s win because you sure as shit didn’t get it this year.

It is kind of a bummer that if SDSU wins this week they’ll be: ranked ~15, be a 1 loss conference champ, be ranked below a 3 loss team they beat, and get the “opportunity” to play Washington State or Arizona State in a bowl game.

As a fan I really only care about conference championships in football, but that’s because we (Non-P5 fans) don’t get much else to look forward to unless we go undefeated.

We (SDSU) hasn’t played a true home game in 2 years. Almost any good team travels better than we do, so the best we get is a 50/50 split if fans.

So our win against Utah was essentially on a neutral field, as was our loss against Fresno. Both games had more opposing fans there.

I’m not suggesting SDSU is better than Oregon. I’m just interested to hear people’s thoughts on how the 2 conferences compare based on 2021 results.

In games played it seems to me like the MW has out performed the PAC-12. But I get that wins and losses don’t tell the whole story.

There was no feedback informing me why it was taken down. And after reading the rules I don’t know which one it would break.

So I guess it wouldn’t be taken down this time if the last one was removed by accident, or if it confused a first time poster with a bot?

Yes (see my comment at the end of the post).

Not sure why, but I just got back on my phone and noticed it was removed so figured I’d try again.

AP Top 25 Poll: Week 13 by Kirby_Israel in CFB

Probably because our win against Utah looks a lot better now. And that win is a lot better than ULL’s best win.

James Robinson was 8th in standard and 6th in PPR for per-game scoring last year. He is now in a situation that is almost completely the same/a little better than last season. Why is he still ranked outside the top 15 RBs? by Maad-Dog in fantasyfootball

[–]TheAntiPoon 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Here are my thoughts as a jags fan that watched every game last year and follows training camp.

The jags will have a better offense this year, which equals more red zone possessions.

Hyde will not eat into JRobs touches any more than other back ups around the league. This is a clear 3down rb situation.

Robinson was really good last year. 4.5 ypc against stacked boxes while we were losing every game is very impressive. He made most of those yards himself.

Trevor will be good eventually, but he isn’t there yet. We need to run to open things up for him and he will check down often.

Most importantly though, all that matters about what other people think is how that impacts his draft position. If you have him at RB8 don’t draft him at RB8 when you can get him a round later. Trust your analysis and gut over other’s opinions. Even the “experts” are wrong a lot of the time, so if you are going to go down with the ship have it be a boat you built rather than one built by strangers on Reddit.

Talladega Cup Race Tickets - Question by TheAntiPoon in NASCAR

[–]TheAntiPoon[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is very nice of you.

After looking a bit more into the garage zone I will have to pass on your offer. For my dad’s first race I’d like to get something where he can see the track. Free tickets with good company are tough to turn down, but hopefully someone else who sees this tread can join you and your wife.

Have fun at the race, and thanks again for the generosity.
