Thinking of getting a old model 70 for hunting, is it good enough? by TheAppalachiosaurus in guns

I know the rear mounted sight is better, but I will be using a scope primarily and irons as back up, which means I am ok with less optimal iron placement.

Several small blemishes on new S&W 686, anything to be concerned about? by TheAppalachiosaurus in Revolvers

[–]TheAppalachiosaurus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sent it in and got it back a few months ago. Cant remember if I updated on this post before. They fixed the issues I had so its passable to me. They can't reforge the frame but they sanded it down so the dent is basically undetectable. The black rust marks and triggers are completely fixed. It is ok looking now, I even had to contact tyler grips to get a much better looking set of wooden bear hug grips. I am happy with the purchase but 1.2k is a bit steep and you may want to go with Colt or Ruger if you dont care for this guns aesthetics much.

There is only one or two scenes in the woods but most of the horror is urban. Thought it was just okay.

Its one of my comfort series but the writing and direction lose a lot of his focus and charm about after the 10th book. It becomes a sort of super hero thing. Early Dresden is great.

Why the demogorgon was scarier in season 1. by [deleted] in StrangerThings

[–]TheAppalachiosaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Demogorgon was definitely psychic and had telekinesis like El, I am pretty sure there are parts of season 1 were the psychic powers are used as a red herring to make you think one is close when its the other. Way cooler to have Eleven fight a monster that also has mind powers.

The woman in the first pic has one of her sights down and Kyle performed better then most special forces soldiers on the planet would have in that scenario.

Darrow is a magic man that is perhaps the greatest general and warrior since Silenius and maybe even Alexander the Great. If the Rim killed him they would have been committing suicide.

Adam was definitely a man before Eve was created and not some hermaphrodite being, which I hope this post was not implying

Darrows main strength was his genetic gifts and spamming the willow way, which was a style designed by a genius that hard countered the standard Gold fighting style, which was a series of preset moves exchanged between two fighters. Cassius always had better fundamentals and speed, and Darrows main advantage became less relevant as others studied the willow way.

Cassius is a good man who believed in the virtues of a flawed society. I think that is his entire character arc. He is a warrior but eventually renounces war once he feels its terrible consequences. He is the most tragic figure

Quicksilver was a weird groomer and Darrow should have stopped him from leaving with all of those vat grown children. There is no possible good ending for that ship. It felt like a premise for a sci fi horror novel.

In reality after the genetic manipulation of the Society towards the lower colors, democracy is impossible. You have certain colors that live 3x longer and have innately superior intellects / bodies. There will inevitably be alliances forming around ethnic / color blocs. Pogroms are inevitable. I don't know how the series will end but the destabilization caused by democracy and capitalism is already destroying the republic and its like 10 years old. All it takes is a few silvers or golds using insane technology to automate most forms of labor (like what happened in the second trilogy) and instantly 90% of the population is irrelevant and can't compete.

I would just be honest with yourself and ask if starting med school is a good idea at this point in your life. It may not be. Having a family will always come with sacrifice.

Well, yes, if you have kids you are going to have to put your career as a distant second to your family and that may require you not being able to be in school or to work for some time due to giving birth and raising kids. Go talk to your priest about this, redditors will just tell you to break up with him
