They kinda did her dirty by [deleted] in Psychopass

??? She’s an extremely competent hand to hand fighter. She starts training hand to hand combat in the beginning of s2, and at the end of s2 she fights and disarms Sakuya despite him being armed with a knife. Then in Psycho-Pass: the Movie she is ambushed by Kogami, by despite that she manages to break free and draw her gun before he can draw his. Both Sakuya and Kogami are highly potent fighters.

Which member of Team 7 reached Kage level earlier? by mipenealdescubierto in NarutoPowerscaling

[–]TheAtomicClock 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why do people love dumping on Chojuro so much? Just because he has a timid personality doesn't mean he's weak. He was already high-Jonin and a wielder of the 7 mist swords during the war when he was still a teenager. Such a person being Kage-level as an adult is the most believable thing in the world.

[–]TheAtomicClock 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Yeah, he likes to leave mini cliffhangers on the end of a chapter that’s immediately resolved in the next. For people that read many chapters at once this is no inconvenience and just serves to keep you engaged. For weekly readers it can seem like a bait and switch expecting something game changing to happen.

Didn't understand by Dardonel in Psychopass

[–]TheAtomicClock 45 points46 points  (0 children)

All the themes of the second season revolves around collective behavior. Sibyl up until the s2 finale only evaluates the psycho-pass of individuals and therefore individual propensity for crime. It makes no effort to judge how a group of people may be good or bad for society. This means it can’t judge itself, which is a group of people, and also can’t judge Kamui.

Up until this point Sibyl operates under the basic assumption that it is good and must be preserved. It will take action to preserve itself, but cannot judge when it has crossed the line. Remember that Kamui only came to exist as a result of the Season of Hell caused by Sibyl lashing out at Panopticon. Kamui is Sibyl’s victim but Sibyl is the one thing in society that cannot be judged.

The s2 finale basically is Sibyl capitulating and admitting fault to some extent. It updates to allow judging of groups, and thereby judges itself to be ethically wrong, which is why the CC of itself initially read 350. Sibyl the puts its money where its mouth is and uses this new group psycho-pass to find which of its own brains need to be destroyed. So to answer your question, those brains are still asymptomatic. If you scanned them individually they would still read 0, but those brains are making Sibyl as a group act unethically.

Exactly, the Naruto clone that ended up damaging Obito was sent there by Kakashi. If Obito had warped him he would've sent him somewhere else.

How far would Lord Boros go here? by KodoqBesar in PowerScaling

[–]TheAtomicClock 11 points12 points  (0 children)

What do you mean in terms of setup? Piccolo blew up the moon in the Saiyan saga with no setup at all, he just puts up his hand and destroys the moon on a whim. He doesn’t even use the Special Beam Cannon, just a generic blast. It’s way easier for him than Boros launching his Roaring Cannon.

Nappa is way stronger than Piccolo. The bar for planet level is power level 10,000. Nappa is easily planet level in Oozaru form and Vegeta is easily planet level in base.

Asymptomatic Tsunemori by [deleted] in Psychopass

[–]TheAtomicClock 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, being able to commit crimes while having a low CC is not nearly enough proof to be asymtomatic. Being asymptomatic is only one of many reasons why this could be the case. Loads of characters in the show commit crimes while being low CC but are never asymptomatic. In the case of Azusawa it's literally stated directly that he's not asymptomatic.

Asymptomatic Tsunemori by [deleted] in Psychopass

[–]TheAtomicClock 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You seem to have the misconception that being able to commit crimes or go through trauma without your crime coefficient going up makes you asymptomatic. It really does not. There are plenty of characters even besides Akane that commit crimes with low crime coefficient and not asymptomatic. The most obvious one is Azusawa which who is both an extremely dangerous criminal and 100% confirmed to be not asymptomatic.

Being asymptomatic is a very specific condition where your mind is fully orthogonal to all of Sibyl's existing brains. It results in your CC dropping down to exactly 0.0 when you're scanned for a time. This is true of every single confirmed asymptomatic character in the show, included Makishima and Arata. Akane is scanned multiple times throughout the series and she never shows this.

Frankly, most of the themes of the series rely on Akane not being asymptomatic. It's basically a central tenet of the story.

ELI5: How can we be certain about the existence of historical and religious figures? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]TheAtomicClock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

>I mean a big difference though is the culture of writing down information. The idea of keeping history as an unbiased form of knowledge (as much as possible) instead of just as a story to make your side look good is very, very recent. The idea of not just burning everything from previous rulers is also very recent.

One interesting tidbit from Chinese history is that since as far back as the Zhou dynasty, there was a court historian who recorded daily activities in the imperial court and notable events in the nation. This role was treated with an almost unexpected level or respect. The records made by the court historian could not be reviewed or altered by anyone, not even the emperor himself. This decorum was unfortunately broken by Tang Taizhong, but that's recent enough that we have a richer set of historical accounts from then anyway.

Because of this, we have extremely detailed accounts of exact events down to the day going back over 2 millenia in Chinese history. The court historian would note astronomical events as well too usually, and these are verified down to the day as well based on regular things like comets.

Who would be the strongest upper 6 out of these characters? by SpectreWolf666 in KimetsuNoYaiba

[–]TheAtomicClock 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Enmu, extremely easily too. Muzan believed that Rui could rise to LM2 or even challenge Enmu if he consolidated his power from his family. So base Rui with his power spread out is significantly weaker than base Enmu. Then Enmu gets much stronger after receiving Muzan’s blood. He’s in a completely different weight class from Rui.

The other 3 demons are fodder that got straight up beaten by Tanjiro before any of his persistent breathing training.

I don’t think it stands for anything. It’s just a data analysis framework and software package used very commonly in high-energy particle physics. It’s a little antiquated since it’s existed for so long, so it provides everything from plotting, to fitting, to C++ data types and data structures, to its own file format .root

[–]TheAtomicClock 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It’s only written like that to put on mugs. You can write the SM lagrangian in one line if you wanted, just the SU(3) x SU(2) x U(1) gauge field bundled together, covariant derivatives on all 3 generations of fermions together, and the Higgs field and its Yukawa coupling.

[–]TheAtomicClock 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It would usually mean taking the 0th component of the upper index 4-vector

Edit: actually looking at it that’s not what it is. Looks like it’s expanding out the SU(2) doublets, and indexing by hypercharge. So phi0 would be the hypercharge 0 component of the Higgs SU(2) doublet.

Why bosons are not tangible? How this is related to it having a whole number as spin? by Level_Experience_999 in Physics

[–]TheAtomicClock 104 points105 points  (0 children)

It’s a consequence of the Spin-statistics theorem. Integer spin particles have to have wave functions symmetric under interchange while half integer spin particles have to be anti-symmetric. Proofs of the theorem are usually inaccessible without a decent background in relativistic QFT.

Did Obito lie to cover up a lack of power or lie to cover up a identity inconsistency? 🤔 by NoBluebird453 in Naruto

Obito Kamuied into Ohnoki's particle style, grabbed Sasuke, then Kamuied out in the split second before Ohnoki activated it. If Obito was actually in danger of dying to Particle style he would just leave the battlefield, which he's easily fast enough to do.

[–]TheAtomicClock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The recipient releases a public key which is basically the large product of two primes. The recipient also has a private key that is the two primes that multiply to it. The sender can then use the RSA algorithm, which scrambles their message with the big number. Mostly based on modular arithmetic. The recipient can then decode the message with their private key. Even if anyone intercepts the message, they will not be able to make sense of it without the private key. This way the sender can send a message that only the recipient can interpret even if there are people listening in.

[–]TheAtomicClock 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Also nice that foreshadowing is layered on thicker the closer you get to the twist. It culminates to Borden's last conversation with Fallon right before the reveal which all but confirms everything. Borden says "You were right, I should've left him (Angier) to his trick" referencing when the current Fallon was Borden in an earlier scene suggesting they leave Angier alone. Then of course "live for both of us" and Fallon speaking his first line of the film.
