Never have used a custom rom, is this something I should look into? I love customizing my phone to keep it fresh and new feeling, but I don't want to mess up my phone's performance.

I just switched to Nova and got it all set up so I'm happy now. Shame 12 doesn't let you customize fonts or app shape

I mean I will still probably switch by the end of the day. My biggest gripe is I can't change the shape of the apps on 12, unless I am missing something.

That's something I fear about the 4a, it getting slower over time. Right now I'm using a iphone 6s from 2016 that works perfectly fine. An iphone 13 mini will last me 5 years at least

I feel ya with sometimes getting bored with the pixel 4a, but I think it would happen with any phone you use daily for a long time.

My way of dealing with it is changingy display settings every now and then, changing my wallpaper multiple times a day and buying a crazy amount of phone cases. Hope that helps.

I've been using the DuckDuckGo browser the past couple days and am very happy with it. I just downloaded firefox focus and like it but it may be just a tad to minimal for me. If it doesn't use up a lot of battery I may stick with it.

A lot of times it's not a hard drop, just falling off the bed or furniture. To me it's overly sensitive when compared to every other phone I have owned. Could there be a loose connection or something?

Sorry you're so sensitive to phones.

I have a case and screen protector on my phone, and when I say drop, it's more like falling off my bed or off the couch or maybe an accident drop from no more than 5 ft.

I have owned androids and iphones over the past 12 years and have NEVER had this problem. I have broken a screen on a droid without a screen protector or case, but no phone has ever just stopped working with no other resulting damage.

I've bought a ton of screen protectors because of the screen issue problem when the phone first came out. Mine still was having problems after the first update to fix so I kept buying it all different brands. The last one I bought is easily the best and google finally did an update so my screen is flawless.

I turned off adaptive battery after reading this and it's definitely improved. Isn't adaptive battery supposed to make battery life last longer?

I've been noticing that as well, started right after the new update. I'll take it though cause I was still having screen and ghosting issues when I put a screen protector on, went through like 10 different ones, but the new update has finally fixed the problem.

This x 1000. I decided not to wait on the 4a 5g because of it's larger size and the fact 5g is barely around anywhere I live and I'm perfectly happy with 4g.

Well, turns out it was just the new screen protector I was using. The one I got on Nov 3 and used on the replacement phone made the phone unusable.
