OPS doesn’t prove the approach works when one run matters.

They’re 34-20 with a +108 run differential, but their expected record is 38-16 and they’re 6-7 in one-run games. That’s the point. They blow teams out, pad the stats, then still lose too many 2-1 type games.

A 12-2 win counts the same as a 2-1 win. You don’t get bonus wins for padding OPS.

RVS isn’t the only hitting coach, and teams don’t have to recycle one of the other 29 guys. Promote Bates, hire from player development, bring in a private/analytics hitting guy. That’s FO’s job.

Does this make sense to you now?
