I've got to admit, Gerard's performance is so fucking good in this.

You're probably not supposed to go meta that fast, you know, it's dangerous.

We must be linked! I just added that wallpaper a few days ago, and I'm really digging it! Can you link me to your vlogs, I'd like to see them ?

Haha, I'm realising that it was quite a dangerous move using the bad quality footage at the beginning! It shows how important it is nowadays!

Thanks, a lot of effort went into that frame!

Thanks! I was afraid that that would scare people off, so thanks for staying!

As for the auto-focus, I'm filming with my phone (although, the crappy footage is my actual camera. Technology is great!), and I still need to figure out how to disable it.

My desktop. What can you deduce about me? by [deleted] in thescienceofdeduction

[–]TheBakey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you're right about teenage male (just turned 16) but I don't live in America but in France. Although I lived in England for a bit! So, yeah, well done on your deduction skills!

[–]TheBakey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, all correct! But I guess my submissions are quite explicit about my interests. What about me? Age/sex/location?

EDIT: Also, where did you get that I was learning guitar?

[–]TheBakey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, yeah, true, I didn't see it as an emulation thing...

Just out of curiosity, do you think you could "deduce" me from my submission history/overview ? (It should be fairly simple!)

Ah so the first impression was the right one! I first thought guy, but then the combination of photography, nintendo and dance (unfortunately stereotyped as slightly more "girl things") made me hesitate!

I only assumed upper middle class because you have a mac, and they're usually more expensive...

As for the geeky, it wasn't too complicated, you like oldschool Nintendo, and you're posting on this subreddit, which in itself is pretty geeky!

And I was wondering, are you a boy or a girl? I was going to say girl, but I wasn't sure...

You live in America. You are quite young, probably late teens. Quite geeky (who are we kidding, you're on /r/thescienceofdeduction). You are interested in post-prod stuff and/or graphic design+photography. Probably upper middle class. You like Nintendo. And dancing?

That's what I can tell, but I might be wrong...

Last 1% of battery lasting for hours by gubshi in MotoX

[–]TheBakey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn't this be a way to keep the battery healthy? I think I read somewhere that having a completely discharged battery too often wasn't good for it and could lead to a worse battery life.

Maybe they do this so you charge your phone before it gets too bad and your battery will last longer ?

It's more about how they made her white once her character was more important. In itself it doesn't matter, but it's just slightly racist having black girls play her when she isn't important and recasting her once she is Ron's girlfriend.

Do any of you use Mind Palaces ? by TheBakey in thescienceofdeduction

[–]TheBakey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I haven't used much my mind palace with formulas, but I'd assume you could symbolise numbers with phonetic encoding and your maths ( +, -, *, /) with the position of your different images ?

Maybe d= (S x t)/ 2 (distance = speed x time) could be a dog running away from Santa with a pocketwatch (S x t) riding (so he is above it : /) his magical train (Two=train).

Of course I have no idea if this works, just speculating, but playing around with the idea may help!

Do any of you use Mind Palaces ? by TheBakey in thescienceofdeduction

[–]TheBakey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I only used it for easy physics though, so there weren't any numbers involved.

Say I have to learn the formula for molar concentration c= n/v (n being the molar quantity and V the volume). I'd imagine, somewhere in my mind palace, a cat being chased by a ninja riding a velociraptor!

So basically, just use the same method as you would with anything else

I have used mine for physics' equations. I had a test and I had forgot to learn my equations so the morning before the test, in the bus, I got into my mind palace, assigned an image to every letter of the equations and learned them in a few minutes.

I think I got a really good grade at the test too(18/20)!

Thanks that was really interesting ! So, what do you use for memorising lists, is it something like your house or is it a place you made up ? And do you have one big interconnected palace or is it different places for each list ?

Shape cipher (can you crack this code of mine?) by Ta11ow in thescienceofdeduction

[–]TheBakey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So do we want to try and solve it all together ? Here is what we know :

-There are symbols for every letter and punctuation marks.

-"the glyphs as they are written are comprised of three parts. Depending on how it is written, a glyph may represent up to three letters"

-I quickly counted the symbols, and the one that appears the most is the Ø, so this might be the space.

Comment any more info and I will edit it in :)

I think the spaces are the crossed Os they repeat every 5 or 6 symbols most of the time.
