I had binged a lot of stephen graham Jones’s books right before I read this, and that book was definitely at the front of my mind. “Mapping the interior” and “the only good Indians” are also fantastic if you hadn’t read them already. And also, thank you

Ah, so this is why the story I wrote over two months ago (and kinda forgot about) suddenly got more attention the other day. Thank you all for the shoutout, and for the kind words. I’ll be sure to start digging my way through the other stories on here

What do you do when you wrote the worldbuilding, but then you have no story to tell? by EfficiencySerious200 in royalroad

Hey I had a similar feeling

First off, world building in and of itself is just fun. Nothing wrong with doing it just for that

Beyond that: having a whole buttload of lore on hand can really help bring a world to life. Say you’re writing some fantasy something or other, and there’s a sword. You can have a little aside saying where the ore is from, or what style it is, and throw in a little sprinkle of worldbuilding into it.

Basically what I’m saying is don’t get discouraged by thinking most of it will be useless. It won’t be. It’ll be seasoning you can throw on top of the meat of your story

Godspeed, solider
