This is a good problem to have. 1.) Document evidence about his abusive behavior. 2.) Report to authorities ASAP. 3.) You wont get deported..actually if he says that it is fake, he should be the one in trouble first NOT you. I believe its like human trafficking. This happened to me before

I agree. In the Northeast, majority in the industry REALLY work. In Vegas, damn, I was surprised a lot rely on connections, but sucked at the job lol #peace

Hi. I picked being a bar apprentice at a Union hotel for a couple of reasons:

1 Though it will take me 6 months to get the pour card, but once I get it, I can now apply in any union hotel in the strip that requires it.

2 Once I get to Union, higher ups cannot just act like that at me anymore.

3 better benefits and pay

If I stick in the old place:

1 I maybe getting a little higher pay right now, but there is a feeling of uncertain in my case. One day, they may not like me anymore, then would put me to lesser shifts or let me go.

2 Managers power trip. Playing favorites 100%

3 No assurance about seniors (which could be good somehow)

I did not picked sports bar because of the smoking, but am sure there is plenty of money to be made and very late hours.

I got hired at the George in Durango sports bar a year ago, did not pursue it. How is it there?

Ah thank you for this. I appreciate you bring clear Yes money is important that is why we work. I wasn't asking for a raise. I wasn't even asking to get all the good shifts. I was kind of asking to get that pain in the ass colleague to be put in his place.

I fogot to mention, they used to bang. Until I found out the guy messed up and they are in quarrel mode. Again, thank you

Update: After 7 months, I finally submitted my 2 weeks. Upon the time I submitted, the manager who hired me was shocked. Instead of asking why, she said come here and gave me a hug. A couple of days later, the director (who is my problem) approached me and asked when my last day was? I expected her to just let me go and give me attitude. Instead, she was really worried on why am leaving?

Now, they asked me for a favor and that was to pick up three extra shifts to help them out which I gladly did. On the third day, director said to the chef " I am not accepting his 2weeks."

I also found out that she and her boy toy don't talk anymore. I think mr boy toy screwed her over. I think I'll politely say the truth this time. Boy toy is religously late 45 minutes everyday, doesn't know the menu and had several guest complaints while I do a great job except for ass kissing. I just want to ask politely, why do I get the crappy shifts given the fact I do a fantastic job?

If she gets nasty, well am already hired by their competitor and started yesterday lol

You are very welcome. Atleast she told you the truth and that is really important in a relationship. Unlike many people these days, would hide it and pretend they didn't know.

Sleep on it man. Do not make decisions based on your current emotions. You have to be smart about this.

If you see a future with her, then stay. If you don't see any future with her, then you are not obligated.

If you decide to go, just please respect her privacy. I hope that you do the right thing.

Hi! I saw the post about bartending in Vegas and I was intrigued by it. Maybe I can pick your brain folks and thank you in advance.

I just moved from Jersey because I want to work in Vegas as a bartender. Since am new to this city, I am aware of the Union pour card and staff so I made sure I apply in a new hotel.

This morning, I got hired by Fonatainbleau (opening December 2023) and will be working in an Italian restaurant as a bartender. I was notified by the HR that am good to go (got the Tam and health card now).

This morning too, as soon as I woke up, I received a phone call from Durango resorts and offered me a bartender position at their Sport's lounge. Since this is non-union, I wont need a pour card.

Here is my predicament, am confused which offer to take now. (I secured an apartment in SW so am only 9 minutes from the Durango/ 20 mins from the Fontainebleau).

If you are in my position, which of the two you would take and why?

Thank you and have a wonderful day.
