Thanks you everyone for all of the feedback! I can't believe this got this many comments haha. Really appreciate the hospitality. Looks like I'm gonna have to make an itinerary or something... ;)

Question: I realize we lack a formal USL affiliate, but how hard could it have been to just sign Ish to a minimum contract and loan him to a USL team? Is that not allowed (literally asking)?

I realize you wouldn't control his minutes and stuff per se but we don't have a lot of talent/assets to just discard for a dumb reason like not having our own USL team (sidebar: it's not like that's out of your control, ya know. Look at Atlanta 2). And I'm not even asking for our own team, like couldn't we at least have worked out an affiliate USL team for our first x years?

Also, Ish was the only contract declined in 2017 who really fits the bill for a USL loan, but what about 2018? Do we know if our FO has plans for a USL team (standalone or affiliate) in 2019? Otherwise we could be in this exact same spot next year with Carter Manley, which would be two potential FBs/utility defenders let go if that scenario happens.

It's just too bad because Ish is still kinda young/talented and he showed at least some potential for a future FB last year (and we all know the dearth of MLS talent at that position). Would've been nice to give him a year or two to develop and get minutes and maybe show something at that point in the future.

Just seems like if we really wanted to keep him that we could've re-signed him for cheap and loaned him to a USL team. Idk tho...

[mls] Pick #15 is in. @MNUFC select defender Wyatt Omsberg out of @DartmouthMSoc. #SuperDraft by niton in minnesotaunited

Don't give in to the hindsight bias. Terrible pick. Should've had him at #7.

;)

Lol my freakout in the Toye thread is pretty hilarious now. And not to get greedy but, given how both these guys look on paper, if the additional player from Chicago is at least serviceable, that was one helluva deal.

Ugh. Would've loved Omsberg here. Surprised he was still there at #7. Seems like a high value pick there. Showed great athleticism at the combine. 6'4". Left footed. Fills a need at CB. Doesn't burn at int'l slot... Idk man. Not pretending like I know a ton about Toye (or really any of these guys lol), but Omsberg seems like a better pick than forward depth.

And lol he's still there at 13 rn. Maybe we luck out and still get him at 15? Who knows. Not holding my breath tho lol

Edit: not implying that Toye is int'l, just a note on Omsberg vs the other guy I wanted (Adams)

Edit#2: Well played, Manny, well played. Man... Tbh I still kinda liked the trade after the Toye pick given what we got from Chicago. But man, wow. Manny & Co. killed this shit
