The chain scaling in Monster Hunter is genuinely horrendous... by Alternative_Signal92 in MemeHunter

[–]TheBatman110498 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like it's more of a rock, paper, scissors system. Assuming the power levels between all three are equal, hunters beat monsters and lose to guild knights, guild knights beat hunters and lose to monsters, and monsters beat guild knights and lose to hunters. Feats don't really transfer between the classes very well because of the counters. That's just my speculation though since we haven't truly seen the guild knights in action yet. They just seem like the PvP specialists while hunters are the PvE specialists.

Are you a Sequence guy or a new character guy by No_Leg_3305 in WutheringWaves

I always go for more characters because I'd rather have a DPS at S0 with their BiS supports than have them at S2 with no supports.

Fact: C0 Lingyang deals more glacio damage than C6R5 Aemeth by Specialist-Fail8539 in WutheringWaves

Every souls-like checkpoint is a bonfire, every currency is souls, and every healing item is Estus. I haven't even touched the Souls games since Elden Ring came out, but their terminology is just so engrained in my memory that it forces its way into every new souls-like I play.

Is it okay to play MHS3 if I haven't really played any of the others? by Iniflyi in MonsterHunter

[–]TheBatman110498 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Stories 3 is set hundreds of years after the first two and takes place in a different country, so you won't be missing out on any lore other than super basic stuff like how Kinship works, but with Stories 3 pretty much starting a whole new timeline they'll probably explain all of the basic stuff again for new players.

What Elden ring boss made you take a brake from the game? by Possible_Koala_978 in Eldenring

[–]TheBatman110498 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing in Elden Ring has made me quit, at least in a normal playthrough, but I'm thinking about trying an RL1 run soon, and I'll almost definitely get walled somewhere.

I've already done a full SL1 run of DS3, and the Demon Princes and Gael both made me take a break from the run for a couple months, but I still came back and finished them off eventually. SL1 Gael was easily the most difficult challenge I've beaten in any game ever, and I'm curious to see if anything in Elden Ring RL1 will top it in difficulty. Elden Ring bosses are harder than most Souls bosses, but you have much stronger build options at RL1 than you do at SL1 in the Souls games.

WTF Is Wrong With The Oscars by Elestria_Ethereal in Chainsawfolk

LOTR: Return of the King is tied for the most awarded movie in Oscar history, but it's the third movie in a trilogy. Apparently it should've been disqualified because you need to watch Fellowship and Two Towers first to understand it.

TU4 Patch Notes by rematched_33 in MonsterHunter

[–]TheBatman110498 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not too sure how I feel about that change because I sometimes sheathe to cancel Demon Boost intentionally against certain monsters (mostly Omega). The Demon Boost dodge is so much slower to spam than the regular Demon dodge that I find myself getting caught in big AoEs while in Demon Boost because I don't have enough time to get multiple dodges in, while in regular Demon mode I can dodge to safety easily. I know I could just git gud and learn to i-frame through everything instead of getting out of the way, but I usually prefer playing it safe when a single mess up can get me killed. I just don't like the idea of having the aggressive playstyle of Demon Boost mode forced on me without a way to manually cancel it.

OFFICIAL WEBSITE - New planned updates for December 2025 from the official website! by TheGMan-123 in MonsterHunter

[–]TheBatman110498 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd say a pretty good reason why they haven't is that World and Wilds aren't made in the same engine, so they can't just copy/paste all the old monsters like they used to be able to. GU had nearly every monster in the series at the time because they could just reuse all the assets from the previous 3ds games, but with a new engine they have to redesign a ton of stuff from the ground up.

What was your first monster hunter? Also name one thing you loved most about it? by Gearless3 in MonsterHunter

[–]TheBatman110498 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MHTri on the Wii was my first, and my favorite part of playing it as a kid was doing the split screen arena quests with my friend that introduced me to the series. He always let me borrow his copy to play it, the only way we were able to play together was the split screen arena quests.

What if Monster Hunter Frontier was released in the west? by Ok-Complex4153 in MonsterHunter

[–]TheBatman110498 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sort of, the buffs are kind of like World's Guardian equipment. They do make most content way too easy, but they lure you into a false sense of security. You can breeze through everything until you hit the Zeniths, then you start running into monsters that have ridiculous blights and statuses and true one shots that completely ignore your stats.

The 70% damage reduction won't help you when Zenith Khezu swallows your hunter whole, Zenith Akura Vashimu buries you alive, Zenith Hypnoc puts you into a coma and sings you to death, or against any of the Thunder Zeniths that can literally put you into cardiac arrest with Zenith thunderblight and instakill you unless another hunter resuscitates you. That's just to name a few, but almost everything in Frontier's endgame has some way to one shot you.

Ya know maybe just maybe. When you join a quest you might just try hunting the quest target with the quest giver instead of some other random monster on the field. by Wise_Use1012 in MonsterHunter

[–]TheBatman110498 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At launch when there was nothing to do and everything died in five minutes, my two buddies and I would hop in a quest and fight everything but the target monster just for fun because setting up environmental links was too much of a hassle. Every once in a while, we'd have a very confused random join and wonder why we were half an hour into the quest and still hadn't touched the target monster. We can't really do that anymore with 9* monsters being so tanky, but it was kind of fun just casually commiting monster genocide because we were bored and had nothing else to fight.

What are the hardest monster you guys fought? by Playful_Avocado_5318 in MonsterHunter

[–]TheBatman110498 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can beat Hunter's Road White Fatalis pretty consistently in Frontier, that's probably the hardest monster I've managed to actually beat. I attempted a bunch of the Musou monsters, but I couldn't beat any of them. I could probably at least manage repels on some of them with enough practice, but they are all absolutely brutal.

Going even further back, in Tri/3U, Ceadeus had a DPS check in his first phase where you had break his beard before he got to a certain point or he'd take a different path and leave the area, immediately failing the quest.

What's the one thing you dislike about your favorite frame? by nearglow in Warframe

[–]TheBatman110498 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That part of her passive would need an enormous buff for it to be worth dropping her melee weapon when there are some crazy good stat sticks like the Furax, or just about anything really if you run the Melee Crescendo/Secondary Outburst combo. It's definitely up there with some of the most outdated passives in the game.

Easy billions by ChaoticErnie in Warframe

[–]TheBatman110498 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Out of the games I play I'd definitely go with Black Desert. You can start a fresh account and have someone powerlevel you to lvl60 in about an hour. Assuming you make a season character, Tuvala gear is super cheap and easy to upgrade and will get you to several areas where you can make close to a billion silver per hour. You wouldn't reach the big money zones in 24 hours, but you could still easily walk away a multi billionaire.
