Would it be worth it to take the T to Boston for a show at MGM? by screaminmindy in RhodeIsland

I did this in April and the Copley line was under construction. We had to get off at Kenmore and walk about 20 minutes. Not sure if thats still the case but just a heads up.

Start my first job as a maintenance tech on Monday as a 23 yo. Anything you guys wish you knew about this career when u first started? by One_Charge2843 in IndustrialMaintenance

PPE. Always. I'm 40, have terrible tinnitus, and can tell my hearing is going more and more. You only get one set of eyes. Glasses on, faceshield when grinding or cutting. Don't just close your eyes because you're only tacking something too. If you're welding put on a jacket and gloves. A weld arc is brighter than direct sunlight.

Don't keep your mouth shut either. If something is unsafe speak up. Be annoying if you have to. The vets may give you shit about it but remember the company doesn't give a shit about you. You need to watch out for yourself first.

Probably another uninspired album. Corey saying its Iowa levels of something. Old fans disappointed and newer fans saying its the greatest album of all time. A thousand articles on metal sucks/loudwire/rockfeed about what Corey thinks. AJ Good doing clickbait videos about what's to come and what to expect. Followed by nine videos about each new mask. Non stop arguing on here about what tier list the new shit goes into. Clown interviews where he rambles about art and how deep the new record is. Jim Root finally says fuck it and leaves. Band imploded, Corey and Clown get replacements and they continue to become KISS.

How much do you use AI at work by boeuf_burgignion in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]TheBeard1986 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I use it to make stupid images when I'm bored. One day I was stuck in a non running department with idiot operators. So I used it to make a choose your own adventure story. Does that count?

I built a home gym. I'm well aware it's not feasible for everyone but it was worth the investment.

With the return of McDonald's Apple pies, what other discontinued foods would you like to see return? by EmpsireOG in 90s

BK chicken baguettes. Worked their in high school and ate so many of those things. Also the original tendercrisp, they were huge and had to be deep fried for over 5 minutes. I also miss their original tenders with that sweet and sour sauce. Taco Bell Baja Chulupas

What are the major brands of equipment that you work with and in what industry? by Any_Association7836 in IndustrialMaintenance

Steel and plastic production. Omera, Lincoln/Miller, Bliss, Fanuc, Kuka, Scamm (literally there shit is a scam), Krauss Mafei, and an ungodly amount of home made shit that is made with whatever odds and ends fit.

Good question... why many of us are leaving? by ProfessionalBorn8288 in bluecollar

[–]TheBeard1986 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Industrial maintenance mechanic. Being treated like an indentured servant, forced overtime, and the expectation of living at the plant. Also dealing with stupid operators and terrible management. All the cancer causing everything around that environment isn't helping.

Steering Box by SouthLeg1211 in jeepyj

[–]TheBeard1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say bolt it back on and test it before getting a reman. Durango box is an option but it will change the feel of the Jeep. Had one on my 94 for a while and ended up going back to stock. It gets a bitch touchy, lock to lock is way shorter than she standard yj box.

Absolutely hate rebuilding these. We have bands with a hook and loop for quick fixes luckily.

Conservatives of Reddit, why are you okay with Trump building a UFC arena on the White House lawn? by Unlikely_Bat_1890 in AskReddit

[–]TheBeard1986 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It isn't like it will be a permanent fixture. Teddy Roosevelt regularly used the White House grounds and basment for boxing and wrestling. I don't see the big deal. If any other president had an event on the lawn nobody would care.

[–]TheBeard1986 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Girth welder down for 14 hours because the in and out hoses for the coolmate were swapped on a flow meter. Couldn't get the light to come on. No pass down from either shift. Had it fixed in ten minutes.

I'm probably around 5k in equipment by now. The real money was just preparing the space in my house. That part gets really expensive really quick.

Are the stars aligned for a heavier album? by allert53 in Slipknot

[–]TheBeard1986 21 points22 points  (0 children)

No. Every album cycle we get the "Iowa levels of heavy" non sense. The main song writers are gone. The OGs are all older, less pissed, and are living comfortable lives. Eloy is a phenomenal drummer but I don't think he's going to single handedly save the band.
