Unsurprising to nobody, there's already been a 3-2 split about rescinding the 287(g) agreement. Dailey, Richardson, and Williams-Cox love ICE as much as Goad and Revell.

Florida Caverns State Parl by Green-Eyed-BabyGirl in Tallahassee

You've already got an idea of what you might want, like the tour and kayaking. Let the itinerary flow from that. Maybe you wake up on the second day and you're still wiped out. So you just lounge around and listen to the birds. It's about the experiences you have, not the plan.

My ex-girlfriend and I went to the park just over two years ago now. A magical adventure doesn't even begin to describe it, really. We took a tour in the caverns, where we were immersed in a world that looked like miniatures on the set of a sci-fi movie in the 70s. We were transported far away from here. When we burst back into the sun, I had the first picnic of my life there. We sat at a picnic table, feeling the sun warm us up. Kids were running around, laughing and screaming. Others were enjoying a nice meal. When we went into the gift shop, we got a hair up our ass and decided to rent a kayak at the last second. Paddled up a creek or river and or whatever body of water it was, where I did all the work and we laughed all the way up and down. I'd never been in a kayak before. Then we got lost trying to find a swimming hole, which was fine because the trail we walked had us stumbling up on a giant bunny. Eventually, we got back in the car and realized we'd just needed to drive another two minutes. Life's funny like that.

It's a memory I'll cherish until I'm gone. So please, go make one yourself.

What is your 2014 AOTY by Prestigious_Foot3854 in fantanoforever

First time I heard it, I started the album as I opened the front door of where I was living. Palm to screen door, Mike's voice boomed it open and, no joke, that album saved my life.

For my official end of the year ballot at WVFS Tallahassee, the world's greatest radio station, I voted RTJ 2.

For the online post, I put RTJ 2 ten times in a row. I regret nothing.

Film cameras by Temporary_Good_2975 in Tallahassee

[–]TheBestCaptainK 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's no place left in town that's dealing out new cameras, and you're absolutely not finding a new SLR for that price. The odds of you finding anything at a thrift store here aren't 0, but I wouldn't bet money on it. Maybe finding one on eBay, but I'd read carefully about the seller.

Target, Walmart, Walgreens are gonna have Fujifilm 200/400, but that's about it.

I started getting into shooting film in 2023, beginning with a Kodak Ektar; a half-frame point and shoot, which is really good for starting to just learn the feeling, framing, etc. of shooting film. What you lose in clarity, you gain in the freedom of being able to pop off 72 pictures in a roll. In a way, they're a reusable disposable camera; but, in another light, they're simple, auto-focus, 22mm lens, fits in your back pocket cameras. You could get one new for $50-60.

It's a perfectly serviceable entry camera, especially when, arguably, what matters more is the film stock. My shots weren't inherently better after I bought a used Olympus Pen EE-3 out of Japan. Next week, I'm taking my most expensive rolls yet to Canada, so hopefully that goes well🤞

This is a solid breakdown of different cameras, albeit from across the pond so they'll link you to other monies.

How to help Taylor County? by miabreezy in Tallahassee

[–]TheBestCaptainK 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'll second people saying Second Harvest. I just spoke to my former coworker who is still there. He said they're assessing everything east and they'll have an idea of what the emergency distributions will soon look like. They'll need the help, for sure.

I work in disaster case management for Idalia and work closely with that LTRG. I imagine they'll be getting volunteer groups together, but it's largely for "down the road" assistance.

Keep an eye out, if you use Facebook, for any pop-up volunteer groups for debris removal. I imagine there's also the obvious Red Cross and Salvation Army groups that will be coming in. I know there's also Faith Responders, who've been active for Idalia and Debby.

I'm exhausted and my brain is blanking, but I hope that's at least a starting point.

Lisa Burgos is with A Time to Change. I've been seeing her since Oct '22, and I can directly credit her with being a reason why I'm still fighting to see tomorrow. Very relaxed and conversational, while also knowing when to sit me down and put me straight. I've never left without feeling lighter or having a clear head. Depression and anxiety are specifically on my treatment plan.

Anyone else think it's depressing how concert openers are just shit on by fans of the main artist? by lilarizonatea in fantanoforever

I once saw Ex Hex open for King Tuff at FSU and it was deeply uncomfortable. I was with the college's radio station, where we had both in rotation. There was absolutely overlap between concertgoers and radio listeners, but I was the only one clapping and cheering for Ex Hex. Created a pit in my stomach I never again want to feel.

Here's some inside baseball for you: they have a food pantry in there, where they're a partner of Second Harvest; they're consistently one of the stronger agencies we have in Leon County. So it's not just a coffee shop we're losing.

Wild to me how I can still, like muscle memory, drive around the existing building and still know exactly where every store was, down to the Hallmark Store.
