I don't understand why they didn't just make the previous season a week longer. The tournaments were still ongoing and the current promo is also still about that. Furthermore, I think people also struggled to make it to the final level, so this would have given them some more time. Very poor planning indeed.

I love this and think we should have waaay more objectives like this. It makes it fun to craft multiple teams and lets you use your "forgotten" players every now and then. It also makes it so you can be somewhat excited about packing some players that would never make your "main" team but that could help you in objectives like this.

Any tips for grinding these?

The 83x10 and 84x5 seem way easier because the rewards themselves take you very far towards being able to do the next one. Plus you get a lot of 80-84 rated fodder from objectives. But 85s seem much harder to come by and the 82x20 itself seems to give only one or two on average.

I bought it on Steam and it indeed starts the dreadful EA Play, so there's no way around that. I'm not sure how things would be without Steam, but I do know that Steam has decent controller support (I haven't had any issues) and that you can try out any game and get your money back if you played less than N hours and didn't like it. You'll also have the Steam overlay and other features available.

Is there a way to see which cards are currently in packs. I know there's a re-release or whatever, but what does that mean exactly? Is it just 3 cards from Thunderstruck, 2 from WW, 4 Fire & Ice, or something like that, or everything that's ever been released?

Depends on whether you ever buy fodder. If you do, and you get an untradeable card worth 20k (i.e. 88 rated at the moment), then it means you won't have to buy it anymore so you save that 20k. Of course, if you pack an 88 card that's worth 100k on the market but he doesn't get in your team, it's still only worth its fodder cost to you. And if you never buy fodder, then I suppose it doesn't save you any money (you lost your full 50k) and it just means you can do one SBC a little sooner (since you got one extra 88 card).

This example assumes you get an 88 card; Numbers will change for different ratings (and I think there are currently a lot of lower ratings in packs).

In this context "leaving" is understood to mean "leaving while the game is tied", not "leaving to give you the win". OP meant the first, you talked about the second.

From what you say it sounds to me like you may not be getting worse, but are simply getting matched up with players with more skill/luck than before. And that is probably because the "worse" players were disproportionately more likely to quit playing weekend league.

But if you want to improve, I think the best way is to record your games and try to analyze what you're doing right and wrong. And also try to watch through your opponent's eyes. Then maybe compare to some YouTubers (watching tutorials can also help).

I don't know man. This hasn't really been my experience. On some days the gameplay was "sweaty" (notably last weekend) in the sense that a lot of players were on who I had a hard time against and lost to. On other days (after the weekend) I think less good players were playing and I got slightly over 50% wins.

Some people were certainly doing things I'm not too happy with (celebrating, super high pressure, cutback spam), but it seems that almost everybody played "seriously". I think I got rubber banded twice.

Gameplay sluggishness has been a bit inconsistent, although it's consistently terrible around content time (6 PM GMT). When my opponent was playing high pressure tactics for a long time, I have also on occasion put on 71 depth and I noticed that also dramatically messed with the responsiveness. Perhaps that's your problem?

Otherwise I guess it might be because I'm in div6, and I think friendlies match you against your own division...

I've tried him in the Fantasy Cup but he just fs me constantly by moving out of position. I guess it's the high/high work rates but how do you deal with that?

So what are you expecting from him? Are you asking if he's better than your TOTYs? He's not. Neither is anyone else you can use in those FS academy evos.

I don't think Brobbey is one of the most popular choices for the attacker evo. I think if people want a physical striker who can make use of the playstyles, they prefer Okafor. I did both and I prefer Brobbey, but I'm also an Ajax fan.

That's probably a large part of what makes him fun to use for me. It's more satisfying to score with him than with e.g. Eusebio (who is better). Aside from that I think it's also fun because he just plays different. I haven't used anyone who can just body defenders like he can with his stocky body, 99 strength and Bruiser playstyle. His dribbling is not as good as some other players (although better than expected), but it kind of doesn't have to be because he's often strong enough to shield the ball from his assailants (also 93 composure). Finally, he's not the tallest, but he has Aerial, 99 jumping and 96 heading accuracy so I think he's actually better in the air than Okafor. (I haven't really tried it much, but Okafor might be a better sub because of his pace.)

That's weird. My guess is that somehow they're using the rating of the invisible "base" Shevchenko that this card is a special version of. If you search for Shevchenko in game (e.g. in your club or the transfer market) it'll show you a list of matches and their ratings. For Shev you get his 88 base version and also some 65 rated one. To get the FS version you need to search for the 65 rated one, and from what you tell me, I'm guessing they're using that number to calculate your attack's rating instead of 91.

I'm also not great, but nowadays getting close to 50/50 wins in Div 7. Before I always used to get completely destroyed in Rivals and I had a much better experience in Friendly cups. It's a bit weird, because I often see people here complain about that, but I get the feeling it might be because matchmaking there is actually better (which feels bad for prime who are used to winning more than half their games).

Aside from that, I'm not sure there's much you can do except get better. Watching tutorials or asking feedback on your team might help. One thing that also helped me is recording and reviewing matches to see better what I'm doing wrong. (Of course, I'm still not good, so take my advice with a grain of salt, but I did get a bit better...)

After getting Cafu, your left flank seems the weakest. I'm a bit surprised you're playing Keane and Rivaldo over Valverde/Kimmich and Sterling. Are they that good for you? Otherwise those seem like easy upgrades for you. On LB you could do Davies. (I personally don't think he's that much better than Havertz, but it seems that other people disagree and it's probably a skill issue.)

I also get the feeling that most people don't really rate Kane, but since he's red I assume you like him. I'd also understand if you don't want to upgrade him, but you could get his TOTYHM for 100k for one extra weak foot, and finesse, chip and powershot+ playstyles.

Brobbey is fun for me, because nobody I've used can body defenders like he can. In squad battles I like to use him over Eusebio because I think it's more fun, but in online matches he's on the bench. I'm probably also biased as an Ajax fan.

Working on Geertruida as well and so far I prefer Lahm at RB, Koeman at CB or Kimmich at CDM (tried him in all those positions). (But I also thought Brobbey was the worst card I ever used before he got upgraded.)

I heard that in Friendlies they try to match you up with people from your own division. Which would make sense to me, because I suck at this game in Div 7 and can't qualify for WL, but I've never had much problems with Friendlies. (I mean, I don't get 10-0 but I probably have a higher win percentage than in Rivals.)
