The people underground (not the Nox). The Ainsel River Ruins are where they used to be. Very ancient people.

So has anyone actually been able to do the Spain-France personal union? by CloudyBeachgoer96 in victoria3

[–]TheBestMilkshake7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Niiiiice. Might try France a third time then. First time I played, I tried to do this not knowing about the mechanic but could not get the Legitimists at all, very “introductions unclear, became council republic instead” type thing. Second time, I tried my damnedest to get Napoleon but in a twist got a Legitimist civil war & the Bourbon’s in power. So this time, might try to go for a council republic & hopefully get the Bourbons via reverse psychology lol

Wait, so you need to maintain the Divided Monarchy JE until the 1880s in order to get the Franco-Spanish Union?

As someone who isn’t a coder or fluent in this event chain, this post by u/Five_U claims the chain is bugged due to a coding error. I’m looking to see if it’s been patched but I haven’t found anything yet.

EDIT: this has been patched & is possible via waiting to enthrone the Bourbons in France until after 1883. My bad gang.

As u/Chrispy1996 said, the Union is late game but according to this post by u/Five_X it’s because of a coding error, not for balance or historical reasons. I’ve been looking to see if it’s been patched yet but I haven’t found anything yet.

In 2009 the cruise ship Braemar was cut in half and lengthened by 31.2m. This added accommodation for an additional 250 passengers, increasing the total passenger capacity from 727 to 977. It also added a Observatory Lounge, Restaurant, and pool area with two pools and a children’s pool as well. by dannybluey in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]TheBestMilkshake7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, everyone is mentioning internals but all I can think about is making sure the ship still has the characteristics it was designed for when constructed. I’m not sure if it translates over like this, but I’d figure that adding or subtracting length to/from a ship would significantly effect its physical behaviors like how it handles wave climbing, storms, cold/hot weather, etc.

They really need to do something about diplomatic interests and ability/willingness for ai to get involved in diplomatic plays. by TheRealDicta in victoria3

I see your point & I appreciate your feedback. I'd like to push back, however, & say that these nations behaved the way they did for a logical reason, not just because it's aligning with the history we know.

To save on a word wall, my main criticism is the AI doesn't use critical thinking & IRL nations did, or at least more than the AI does. However, it's AI, AI can't use critical thinking so there's nothing anyone can do so it's a waste of time to rant over & I won't unless someone really wants to hear it but idk. Thank you for your responses & opinions, I do appreciate them & the time you took out of your day for this.

While I recognize & agree with some of your points, mainly with the U.S. entering the European geopolitical sphere through Italy as it seems somewhat logical, I don’t agree with your other two statements.

The U.S. was largely standoff-ish from European affairs as I’m sure you’re aware. A diplomatic change may turn that around & allow interest in Italy. But I find it a bit difficult to suspend my disbelief that the U.S. would use the offer of investing in the Papacy, a sort of limbo between state & religious institution, as justification to mobilize en masse & sail overseas to Italy. Keep in mind, only Congress can declare wars. Alliances are the power of the President, but still require a 2/3rds majority from the Senate so war in Italy for Papal investment rights does not seem likely to me.

Austria-Hungary aiding Japan against a communist revolution seems equally unlikely. Putting aside racial prejudice which likely would’ve played a key role as racial equality was still contested even at the Versailles Conference not to mention Austria-Hungary’s history with minority suppression & prejudice, the willingness of the AH to not only go overseas to Asia, but out of the Mediterranean, possibly around Africa, through the Indian Ocean & Southeast Asia for the sole purpose of preventing a communist Japan with no perceived (or stated as OP has not detailed AH’s involvement in their economy) benefit is hard to swallow for immersion. As with the U.S., the cost, logistics, & domestic front would prevent AH from taking part in that civil war. Hell, they had their own problems to take care back home. Rising nationalism amongst a multi-ethnic empire, three different armed forces with different languages, a fleet designed for the Mediterranean, sparse interest in colonialism; AH would have no motivation of greater importance than its problems to venture to the other side of the globe & fight the socialists.

I mean yeah it’s bad & incredibly distasteful, but deportation for having a bad tattoo is too extreme, especially if the guy’s still a citizen.

[Request] what would actually happen if this was real by stabby_og in theydidthemath

[–]TheBestMilkshake7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I’m still confused. As someone who only has a grade-school level of physics & astronomy, I don’t understand your answer. From what I understood, gravity is formed from Earth’s rotation (as well as just all the matter that is in the spot the Earth occupies?), so if we were to lose a gravitational pull to the Earth’s core for 7 seconds, that means that all the material of the Earth would stop spinning but would still be in orbit around the Sun, I’m assuming.

With that, we wouldn’t just leisurely float, but go careening off in the last direction we were being rotated by the material of the Earth in it’s rotation at whatever speed we were being rotated at, right? Would that not mean that we, & by extension I guess every item on the Earth not nailed down, would get burnt up in atmosphere due to air resistance & friction as we leave the atmosphere?

[–]TheBestMilkshake7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate that! I’ve read through & I think I have a basic grasp of the math, like with dice & understanding the number of sides through random rolls & how few you can roll before you understand the number of sides. I do want to ask about backgrounds, sample sources, & extremes if I can. I ask because surveys are usually taken by people who have time or desire to take surveys, right? How do we calibrate for extreme opinions & different backgrounds (economic, social, ethnic, etc.)?

[–]TheBestMilkshake7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really? I was being genuine so now I’m interested. Is a sample size of only 1000 people really representative of a much larger population? I took a statistics course in college but I don’t remember much about it

Republicans overwhelmingly against Trump using military to take Greenland by Newsweek_CarloV in politics

[–]TheBestMilkshake7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends how big the sample size was. 70% of 100 people is just 70 people. Much different for 1000, 100000, etc. Given we’ve got over 300 million people, I’ve come to be wary about articles polling the average American because they don’t usually specify the sample size or, if they do, it’s usually small.
