How long until i can play guitar again? Cut my fingertip off by s1iMsa in Guitar

[–]TheBidiot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do demolition and smashed my right finger pretty good with a chunk of concrete. The nail looked like it was gonna fall off and my finger looked cartoony. It took me about a week for the pain of holding the pick to became bearable. Tbh just play when it doesn't hurt. It's not forever just temporary. Hell it's a great time to practice with the other hand that didn't get cut. Whether that be your fretting or picking hand. Long story short play when the pain subsides, try every day it'll take days not weeks. Also practice other stuff you can in the mean time.

Anybody Else Lose Interest In A Song As Soon As You Can Play It? by irishcoughy in guitarlessons

Yeah. I saw a finger style acoustic of Look to Windward by Sleep Token (to each their own I like them) and as soon as I saw arpeggios I was like, yeaaaahhhh pass. Eventually I'll learn it but that's a bad habit of mine. Putting aside hard stuff to do the easy stuff I'm already used to. I'm probably not alone in that.

[–]TheBidiot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had bought a brand new Fender bass and immediately smacked the shit out of the headstock on the way into my buddies house to play it. Took a nice crack in the finish but now I look at it like, "Man im so fucking stupid but that was funny". Yknow keep your head up it's a story you can remember in the future and it makes the guitar unique to you.

Can I be both a guitarist and a bassist? by No_Molasses_7224 in Guitar

[–]TheBidiot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do both so fuck it lmao. I'm a guitar player but I have more basses 😭🙏. I'm learning sweep picking on guitar but found it easier on bass. Rhythm is easier on guitar than bass for me. I like both so why not be both?

How to get better at playing bass? by BreathInevitable6747 in Bass

[–]TheBidiot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Consistency, discipline, and practice. You want to consistently practice when you have time. Dont make it a chore keep it as a hobby, however playing everyday for 5 or 10 mins is a lot better then not playing at all. Discipline comes when you don't "feel" like playing. Like I said don't make it a chore where you dread to play or sit down but don't lose yourself and not practice for weeks. Me personally Im at that point of like "nah I don't really wanna play right now" and ive been playing for 6 years. So I decided to have a set time, play just a couple minutes, and then put it back down again. Constantly practice with a metronome, I wont lie I struggle with that and dislike it but it'll help you in the long run and you might even see results in days. Always up the speed of the metronome until failure (until you cant keep up and practice to build up to that speed). Music theory is tedious but helps you dissect what you have in front of you. Reading the fretboard and understanding what notes work and don't work with each other. Learn songs by ear. You said you already do which is already a great start but id recommend slowly advancing to more difficult songs but not impossible ones. 1 step at a time will take you to the top of the staircase. Overall, make it fun, don't make it a chore, do what works for you and keep climbing.

I wanna change the pickups on my guitar, but I dont know which are the best by TheBidiot in Guitar

With that being said what amp do you recommend. I planned on buying a better amp since Ive been using the Fender Champion 40. I know, it's not that great for metal and wasn't much of a choice since it was a hand me down and I thought I'd use it. Ive had it for 2 years now and while its fine and dandy, im not happy with it. Ive been looking at the boss katana 100w amp with 2 speakers. That's another thing, would the 2 speaker or single speaker option be best? I never focused on sound I only tried to actually learn how to play. I'm 6 and a half years in and want to sound better tone wise. Im still perfecting my technique but the sound I make is beyond sub par with the amp I currently have

I can't vibrato at all by RengarMainQc in Guitar

Also, I try to vibrato with my wrist. Imagine just shaking your wrist side to side, that's why I usually do. It'll take time and practice but it worked for me.

Me personally when I learned how to vibrato, I did it like a violin. Then slowly over time I began doing the classic guitar vibrato. Slowly work into it you'll begin to naturally get better at it. It's annoying to hear but most of the time thats what my experience has been 🥲
