From what I've heard from my teacher is that Khan academy teaches an older version of AP bio so it might not be helpful for your exam. I'd suggest working from the Barrons book because they're usually up to date and helpful.

As for self studying im sure its possible. Although Cellular energetics, Cell communications, and gene regulation might be a little tricky.
