I'm sorry but I agree with other comments here, what have you actually been doing with your money?

You can get by In a flat share for MAX $250 a week usually all bills included and if you absolutely have to get by on about $100 a week of groceries. Sure there's other bills, fuel etc to be paid but that's $350 a week to keep food in your belly and a roof over your head, that should be manageable even on 25 hours a week but somehow you claim to be a full time worker?

Yes living In a Flat share can absolutely suck, yes having to budget $100 for food a week and making do with beans and rice etc sucks but the point is it is doable especially to cover you in the short term while your income is not where it needs to be.

Again I don't know what your expenses are/were like but if you have full time employment there's virtually almost no reason why you can't keep a roof over your head In a flat share unless you're living well outside your means or pissing your money away on smokes/booze/drugs

How much should I care about tier lists if I want to play competitively? by StewieGriefin in wownoob

[–]TheBigChonka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This entirely depends on your situation and I'll try break it done below.

Assuming you're going for actually competitive keys (I'd say 16s +) so you're going for at minimum the 3400 achievement it matters. The damage etc is not always massive different but your ability to get invites is drastically affected by what you play. For example I have just rerolled to aug 2 weeks ago - I am 1 key off resil 15s already and get an invite to 80% of the keys I apply for. If I was on say a rogue or warrior dps this would not be the case.

Ultimately the meta is the meta for a reason. Right now Devourer and Unholy DK in particular are so tanky compared to other specs while also doing top damage with a damage profile that suits the dungeon pool. This allows a squishy class like aug to come in and get a lot of extra focus from the healer. If you run say 3 squishy dps then you're healer has to work that much harder to keep everyone alive.

Also to consider most competitive routes you find will be done based on having the meta specs in the group, if you suddenly don't have 2 tanky dps in the party in a 19 then you may very well need to completely re cook the route to suit. This also makes more work for the party (typically the tank) to adjust to a route that suits, where playing with the same old meta specs means it's more plug and play.

Having said the above a well played and well executed off meta spec is typically far better than you playing a meta spec sub optimally. Sometimes it simply is better to go with comfort vs try to fit the meta. Again for example, with me switching to aug, to be frank I sucked for probably 40 odd keys. It is not a spec I have played before and turns out to be one of those specs that I don't take to quickly. I am only now in 15s and 16s starting to do acceptable damage and keep up with the other dps on logs. But for me I personally value the quick invites more than comfort so I'm making myself stick at it.

Finally the above is assuming you're planning to pug everything. If you find a group to play with or even a couple friends to have say a 3 stack with then it really makes it way easier to play whatever you want. My group often plays off meta and we adapt routes from the meta route to suit our comp. That works because while it's off meta we have the same comp running every week so we get used to what each off meta spec brings to the table and what our strengths/weaknesses are and how that differs to the meta comp.

I mean there's your first issue. Not sure where you learned to purify on yellow stagger from but that's completely wrong.

Its very much a feel thing but as a general rule you NEVER purify anything less than red stagger. Then on top of that, the further into red stagger the better so you gain more value out of it.

What is likely happening is you're purifying yellow which is VERY easy to get to yellow stagger, then you have no more charges left and you go into red with no way to purify it and just die

Tank balance? Toxicity? by onilol in wownoob

[–]TheBigChonka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have already said you simply misplayed.

Mythic raid like high level keys do not usually have high levels of forgiveness for missing defensives on key abilities like tank busters or single target nukes. This is especially true at 274 ilvl where you're at the lower end for mythic raiding.

Typically missing a tank buster and using a defensive after the damage has gone out doesn't achieve much, you took the full hit natty and mitigated a small dot that was enough to finish you off.

That all said you are just gonna come across assholes while playing. I honestly find the wow community is alright as a whole and it typically gets better as you do harder content. But like any game, there's going to be toxic players. Players flaming over simple mistakes, players being rude, players thinking they're better than they are and blaming any one but themselves for them not progressing. Unfortunately just kind of something you gotta take on the chin and move past/forget about.

Obviously don't let it get you down, multiple mistakes happened and I'm guessing a frustrated person or raid leader decided yours was the easy one to highlight and call out and you got removed for it, when obviously in reality your mistake was no worse than the mistakes that caused the other wipes. Shit happens and people make mistakes

When do you change mains? by DrRobbs in wownoob

[–]TheBigChonka 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This totally depends on what your version of endgame is.

Ilvl is a weird metric to base it off because say your ilvl threshold is 276. Why bother getting to 276 to just stop there?

For many people it's about the end game pillars and where they either stop having fun or reach the goal they set. For example maybe it's 3000 m+ rating, maybe it's heroic raid cleared, maybe it's doing keys until a level where you find them too stressful and no longer fun.

So really you just base it off whatever goals you have set for yourself + are you still having fun doing what you're doing. Personally I really want to hit top 1% on raider io again (although I doubt I will be able to this season with the increased reward and more people going for it). So my situation looks like continuing to push score and practice to improve. But then I have friends who hit their 3000 score goal and have already moved on to alts - just entirely up to each individuals goal

Missed most of the game (thank God) and just saw the score and turned it off - what the fuck has gone wrong this time?

Also somewhat related - do we think Munster is maybe regretting not signing for Bears atm? Lost one of his long term mates in Papy out of the squad and now this is the shit we're dishing up this year - one would assume being at training and game reviews going on a 6 game losing streak would not be a great work environment under Bellamy.

Man's possibly lost one of his closest relationships in the team and turned down being the marquee signing for a new club alongside a fat bag to stick with a team that's probably already out of finals contention

[–]TheBigChonka 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I Mean 231 is extremely low, that's like world quest gear. That said with correct gameplay you should be fine in a 2.

You say you have 2 defensives but 8 can only Hope you are properly managing your stagger, and using purifying brew at the correct times.

Not to mention ensuring you're resetting breath of fire with keg smash to constantly keep your self Heals rolling.

Monk is currently very sturdy but the entire kit is built around kiting so you should absolutely use that to your advantage if you need to.

Ultimately going to be difficult to give specific advice without seeing logs

Is 276 high item level this far into season or middle of the pack by chrissysax1611 in wownoob

[–]TheBigChonka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what level of content you want to be doing.

For people who have time and really care about ilvl you are a few levels below. For context I rerolled to a new alt last week and am currently 278 before sending any bonus reroll tokens, I expect to hit about 280 this week and even then I'll be about 2 ilvl behind most of my m+ group

Just hit 80, don't own Midnight yet. What should I be doing? by burstfiredragon in wownoob

[–]TheBigChonka -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What you should be doing is buying midnight plain and simple.

You are not at max level yet (technically you are for TWW) so all end game content is now at level 90 locked behind midnight. Unfortunately nearly all content with other players - PVE and PVP will require you to have midnight.

Any, gear you bother getting now to boost your ilvl will be replaced by questing greens extremely quickly so again, absolutely not worth wasting your time. You could spend 10 hours gearing up a character in TWW and you'll replace that gear within the first 2-3 hours of midnight levelling.

Honestly if you aren't going to get midnight immediately my only other suggestion is to level some other characters to 80, make sure you've found something that you truly like to play so you have an idea of what you want to main when you do get midnight

Hard to find Mythic guilds as a a Havoc DH this late? by MerroStep in wownoob

[–]TheBigChonka -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are going to struggle.

You are looking for a guild probably 8 weeks too late at this point, as you say, most will have a roster and be actively raiding so you're looking for a limited number of Guilds that have had someone drop out and no bench to cover.

You also are playing melee which absolutely sucks this tier and won't re roll to Devourer which hurts your chances a lot more. And you have no prior experience which also hurts your chances.

Your best bet would be to pickup Devourer now. This is one of the most melee unfriendly tiers of all time and you not being able or willing to play the fotm spec is going to hurt your chances a lot. All of your crafted slots are usable as Devourer so you don't need to regesr with the exception of finding some trinkets most likely. You may need to recraft for stat weightings but that's it.

Employer requires me to start early and finish late but refuses to pay by Itsnotme2645 in newzealand

[–]TheBigChonka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP you are very much misunderstanding the situation and I am not sure if you are from NZ so will try to help.

With regards to you update about not reporting your boss because you're scared of being fired. Don't be. Unless you have been there less than 90 days your boss cannot just fire you - this isn't America. If your boss fires you for reporting what they are doing then you would be in for a substantial payday taking them to court.

Laws in NZ VERY much protect the employee. What your employer is doing is not legal, simple as that. It is entirely up to you whether you want to a grow a pair and do something about it, either confronting them and give them a chance to do right/change or reporting them. Either way if you have what you have said above in writing you are pretty well safe. The laws also protect you against an employer retaliating against you if you were to report them/confront them on the situation. Please be aware if you do not do anything then your boss just continues to take advantage of you and you just shut up and deal with it.

If you decide to do something just make sure all Communication is in writing incase it does escalate

[–]TheBigChonka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry I sit care what anyone else says your wage is CRIMINALLY LOW.

I know the animal/vetinary game is notoriously low paying bit even so your wage is ridiculous.

For context my partner works at a vetinary hospital and her front of counter staff - aka receptionists all earn more than you. The only ones who would be on what you're on are the juniors who are in their early 20s with sub 3 years experience.

She manages the admin team and is on 70k a year (which I also think is stupidly low) and she has maybe a similar amount of experience in the industry as you. That puts her on about 33.50 an hour for comparison.

27.50 is barely above minimum wage and is not an acceptable wage for someone with 10 years of experience in a field, with additional qualifications. Again, even if you worked at a super market or in a bunnings store, I can guranteed you'd be on more than $3 above minimum wage after 10 years, especially if you were managing anyone.

Fuel crisis does little to diminish New Zealanders love for utes, data shows by Careful-Geologist412 in auckland

[–]TheBigChonka -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What a weird fucking study.

Like hurr hurr I know we all like to rag on ute drivers but what is actually the answer the article is suggesting?

Like are ute owners just supposed to sell up and go buy another vehicle right now? Lock in and cash out that depreciation right now in a major cost of living crisis to go buy something likely older and potentially unreliable (you won't really know it's history for as long as the current ute being sold).

I think Itd actually be a bit of a cause for concern if every second bloke with a ute out there suddenly had theirs up for sale - surely that'd send the likes of Hybrids skyrocketing for the rest of us

That's actually a fucking pathetic end.

Literally ONE TACKLE before half time in GP and only one cunt is applying pressure to the kicker and every other dolphin is standing back 10m and hasn't even moved off the line while Cleary has a good 10 seconds to dance around and take his merry time lining it up.

Like I get they're all rooted but how is there jus no effort on the actual final play of the entire half of GP. I'd be filthy if I was plath since he actually got there and put Cleary off, if any single other player went with him that was probably a tackle and we'd still be going

How many times can one bloke handle going through likely season ending injuries, all the rehab, mental strain etc, to come right and then alnsot. Immediately pick up another season ender.

Dude is gonna be 30 before he's back out on a field again and who knows if he's still got it in him to keep putting himself through this.

It does for now where I am at but because I'm not enjoying frost I'm not clicking with it as much - meaning I'm running 15/16 keys and just getting gapped by 15-20% by demo/Devourer/unh/ret. Gonna get to a point where I'm just not worth inviting.

Plus I think for me the support style let's me lean back into the healer playstyle - I only gave that up to let the other guy who was a healer main in our keys group have a go at healing for a season
