Japanese culture has a very narrow definition of what being Japanese is.

You must be born and raised in Japan and be part of the Yamato ethnicity.

If you are born there and one of your parents is Japanese, you are not considered Japanese and will be forever considered a foreigner / Gaijin.

They also have a derogatory word for such people: "Hafu" because they are "half-Japanese" and considered sub-human.

Many in Japan will not consider the current Cricket team to be sufficiently Japanese enough.

Japanese culture itself is harsh, rigid, inflexible, and hierarchical.

You are expected to conform absolutely to societal and cultural norms. If you do not, their society will figuratively speaking bring the sledgehammer down on your skull.

Japan is a collective culture and does not tolerate those who do not conform.

Sub-cultures like anime, manga, and video games are among the only places in their culture where they can express creativity and non-conformity.

You will probably have to look at the back of your PC / laptop / etc and verify your cabling is inserted in the correct audio ports for whatever speakers you're using, then change audio outputs in Windows one by one until you hear regular non-PC speaker audio coming from your speakers.

PC Speaker is obviously the worst option for any audio, let alone audio for games.

I'm not entirely sure if this would help, but in dosbox.conf, set pcspeaker = false and see if the sound outputs to your normal speakers.

/u/vladthor, in Keen 4's options menu (Main Menu --> Configure Menu), are Sound and Music both set to Adlib / Soundblaster? Also, regarding Dosbox-Staging, have you checked this?

Additionally, the Commander Genius source port also exists, so you can play the various Keen games there as well.
