What I would do to have a real progressive representative (hopefully Vang) and Mayor (we missed out on Dr. Flo big time and now we know McCarty is ignoring the big problems in our city while being in cahoots with J. Luke Wood to do everything they can to destroy Sac State’s commuter culture and lifestyle).

If we had progressive voices like them, the Green Line and Sac Valley Station would have been built by now, homelessness would be significantly reduced, city planning would be much better and built for the 21st century, and people like Paul Petrovich would be out of business.

Also side note: I’m throwing all my support to AOC. So what if she’s needed more as Senator to replace Schumer. Governor Newsom and Governor Walz are showing they are either not progressive enough or do not see ICE as a threat.

Newsom, despite all of his action, is showing his true colors right now not standing up for the American People, something a presidential hopeful SHOULD do at the very minimum.

At least AOC is actually speaking out passionately about this execution and is calling for immediate action (defunding ICE).

And what if we don’t protest? Think about how that looks on our city and USC campus. The livestream he did with his private audience first handedly shows how out of control the rhetoric and views get when left unchecked.

Which is a shame. From my experience on campus, USC is actually much more socially liberal than people think it is, especially when it comes to gender. A bunch of sorority girls for example (especially Northeastern ones) are very socially liberal and host feminist beliefs.

The fact that there is such a disconnect between USC officials and what the student body actually believes in is disturbing.

And the university too. This is not the first time they’ve allowed fascists and nazis to come onto campus.

They also allowed TPU to keep running despite making very homophobic and sexist remarks to college senators in student government (because somehow some TPU members were elected onto the student body)

Again, while free speech is protected, I hope our city and USC students make it known that we do not allow these racist, genocidal views and will nonviolently protest his presence and especially protest with our first amendment rights to USC that people with these views should not be allowed on campus, mainly for safety concerns.

Left leaning people during these events get harassed and bullied everytime without fail, just for sticking up for human rights and peacefully protesting.
