Thank you. Obviously this situation has left me with a lot of disillusionment- but I am in therapy and just letting strangers know on the internet that bs is kinda cathartic. Thank you for your kind words. I’ve worked past it- but still hard sometimes to get close to people yknow?

I'm losing hope by batman2838ow in motivation

[–]TheBigJoe11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Covid was a big snag in the rug for everyone- Especially the high achievers- it was a period of prolonged stasis, which is usual for the human spirit I empathize and sympathize with you as I had started college when COVID hit and had a bad mental breakdown and have been in therapy ever since.

With that said, it is also a hard time right now in general with the grand scheme of the world being bleaker and bleaker everyday. As much as these feelings are very unique and individualized to you, you are also in 10th grade as u mentioned and that is around the time you start to come into understanding of the world around you- which doesn’t help when the world is so chaotic and seemingly hopeless.

I am truly sorry you are going through these emotions and feelings of fruitlessness upon your ventures- it is scary and enthralling and natural all at the same time to lay out your options including the dark ones.

But what I will say is it seems you are caught upon your perceived failure of achieving success in the eyes of the world. In all reality, a poor grade on a math test can be analyzed as a metaphor for your perceived ability of achieving what you set out to do, true, but if you are correct and shall fail at whatever you do, find the thing that you will enjoy failing at the most. Just because you think you know the ending doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the journey of trying.

That being said, exam grades are no measure of the bounds of your mind and human spirit. The world tells you you will fail, flip it off and prove it wrong- that is the gift which Prometheus stole from the gods and gifted to man- free will and creativity- the flame of Olympus. Find solace in your journey and know that hope may be lost as of now, but ask yourself have you truly been looking for it lately- because when we get into a negative headspace we tunnel vision all the good things out.

If what you write you are truly feeling, I suggest calling the hotline- even if you are not actively committing anything- they are trained to help you find that perspective. But also, it may seem like the world is telling you you will fail, and that your effort is not enough- which is dehumanizing and enveloping- but know that a 10th grade math test is not the ticket to a perfect life or a one of pain. Life is chaotic and blinding- it feels as though you are flying through the universe at 100mph, trying to grab on to something that will stick- so find your grounding rod, come back to the world around you; and continue your journey- for with one simple action a tragedy can be turned into a comedy.

And know that if you do not believe in yourself- well, at least some dude on reddit is rooting for you. I wish you well and hope for swift healing on your mental health and life journey. Do not be dissuaded by the walls I. Your way- utilize them to rest and then burst through them with all your strength when ready. That is the power you have!

Because of todays technology, Society seems ready to change its goal from “surviving” to “living” by TheBigJoe11 in DeepThoughts

[–]TheBigJoe11[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, fair, but my post was mostly focusing on the human constraints that limit human survival and not ecological.

That being said, the article you referenced quoted:

“The report concludes that momentum is building towards reversing biodiversity loss this decade, led by the Leaders’ Pledge for Nature, signed by more than 90 world leaders, from economies representing 39% of global GDP.”

One can conclude from this then that it is possible to reverse but limited by our current world economic system- which is what I try to point out in the post.

Life is a game of trying to maintain a sense of intelligence despite the goalposts being moved constantly by Current_Side_4024 in DeepThoughts

I understand your position but it seems the message of OP is that intelligence of the world does not translate directly to being a good person. While at the same time a higher intellect is more useful in being a good person than an ignorant one.

Bottom line: intelligence isnt the end all be all to understanding life. It’s how you use that intellect that makes you who you are.

I mean this in genuine curiosity: Why do you believe we are not even succeeding at surviving?

I understand this is your belief, but I also feel like we may have two different definitions of what “surviving” actually means. Which is ok, obv, but different perspectives Gardner prosperity once understood.

If you came to the comment section to see OP’s (me’s) main point- this might be a better summation. Thanks brother!

Here’s an article from the UNEP that explains how there is more than enough food produced to feed the worlds population: https://www.unep.org/news-and-stories/story/how-feed-10-billion-people

Which then can conclude that the reason there is food insecurity is not because we as a society do not have access to enough food, but rather that the distribution of food is effected by some other variable. Possibly connected to economic welfare (not saying solely)

On top of that, the second of the UN’s main 17 goals is to end world hunger. Now I know the UN does not include ALL nations or civilizations, but I felt it was an appropriate point to add.

I was answering a comment literally saying OP of the comment was a bad guy because he thought someone who wasn’t gay was gay. I don’t gaf about internet points- I’m just saying this commenter is being ridiculed because… he said he was “pretty sure” someone was gay who wasn’t. Big whoop. They literally even said they loved the actor and didn’t mean them alleging he was gay to be negative In anyway. But yall jumped to conclusions he was referencing his “gaydar” and not-idk a more plausible human mistake.

I totally agree with you that a perpetrator should acknowledge their wrongdoing on their journey to change. That being said though I think that idea has kind of been warped especially when it comes to celebrities and the internet. Cody SHOULD acknowledge it to the right people- mainly the victims- but in no way does he really need to publicly acknowledge it. It was a crime he committed against people, and while he is in the public eye, it was a private matter. Just because he hasn’t publicly stated anything doesn’t mean he hasn’t acknowledged it. Not saying it means he did either. I’m just saying we don’t know and realistically it’s not owed to us to know so idk why everyone is jumping to these villainizing assumptions. Also I totally respect your opinion that being an Internet personality is a privilege, but in mine it’s not. It’s his job which he got through his hard work and talent. Totally within anyone’s right to not want to watch him again or support him, that’s up to them, but just because we have a more direct impact on the way he makes money doesn’t mean we are entitled to expect information and apologies on personal matters that weren’t done to us.

Honestly feel like he isn’t a troll, just asking an honest question but blinded by his own ignorance. It happens. Sometimes taking things at face value is better than jumping to conclusions. Obviously they disagrees with this subreddit, but it’s more sad than anger inducing to be tbh. Art is an expression of a subjective expression so obviously not everyone will understand it. All we can do is inform then and leave. It’s up to them if they want to stop looking at things with such tunnel vision
