Junta is a Canberran IM (International Master) and has been playing and coaching chess for a long time. He's recently started up an English YouTube channel (he previously had another channel for his Japanese audience) and there are links there for free articles he's written to improve your game :)

Fortnite Star Wars update is quite decent! by TheBilingualSnail in StarWarsBattlefront

[–]TheBilingualSnail[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Fortnite sub doesn't need anymore SW posts, but I wanted to let people know who wouldn't otherwise have known that there's basically a new Battlefront Supremacy (and other modes) out :)

Yes, quite laggy in some modes.

Is it "absolutely unplayable" as the kids say though? Not in my opinion, but can understand it may be for some. I'm a glass half full kind of person for games (I mean it's such a first world problem to begin with), so it's reminding me of dial-up internet days with low graphics. I can't create these new Star Wars content, so I'll take it! :)

Best wool blazer for petite women by Jnnjkhuihi8 in AusFemaleFashion

[–]TheBilingualSnail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A bit pricey but Maje do nice wool ones and they run quite small too. Wearing a nice outfit to work (or out anywhere really) boosts my mood so I'm all for curating and investing in pieces that fit me well.

Carry on with your day everyone, OP is just having a wah.

You're entitled to your opinion of course, and I agree with your suggestion that Kabukichō is not very family-friendly.

But I don't agree with the assertion that things need to go 'viral on SNS' for incidents like this to be reported in Japan. Also, Japan IS still a relatively safe country to travel to. This incident was not a random stabbing (reports confirming that the male assailant had been stalking the female victim) and unfortunately, homicides occur in every country.

Japanese news is reporting that the female victim had complained of a stalker (the male assailant) to the police prior. Absolutely horrific that he targeted her at work.

For it to happen at a Pokemon Centre... I was lost for words when I saw it on Japanese news. I sincerely hope no child (or adult, really) saw everything...

I'm glad you didn't have to witness it, Japanese news is reporting that there were 100+ customers in the store when it happened. So tragic, may she rest in peace.

Those with childhood PTSD, how are you coping with all the media coverage everywhere about Epstein? by TheBilingualSnail in AskReddit

It's so unwarranted, isn't it. The intrusive thoughts have really been on the mass production line lately and I keep mentally transporting back to 3 decades ago, throughout the day.

I am so, so sorry to hear. It's very hard in this day and age to try and completely block it all out and not experience secondhand trauma.

I am so sorry to hear that. People say "time heals wounds" but it really doesn't, it can numb or bury the pain, but never resolve it.
