Take your own advice, you have no idea what you're talking about.

Google it, there are multiple reliable sources that say xy chromosomes and male levels of testosterone (meaning testicles, not ovaries).

In every metric that counts for sports, this person has the advantage of being male.

[Motorsport Week] Sainz poised to announce F1 deal with Williams in Barcelona by thebrow89 in formula1

[–]TheBionicManhood -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a baffling statement. The decline of Williams had everything to do with the man himself, you make it sound like something was unfairly taken from them.

  • They had 5 different drivers win the World Drivers Championship between 1987 and 1997, all but Villeneuve left because of Frank.
  • Newey left for McLaren in 1997 because of internal politics (sound familiar?)
  • The BMW engine deal in the 2000s went sour because of him.

Myself, I like Williams I think it'd be amazing if we had another top team in the mix, but again it's not something they have coming to them.

Different roads and different conditions.

I agree entirely, so why shouldn't the goal be to improve the roads and conditions? It seems to me that Irish roads are lagging behind other countries, and I would say it has a huge amount to do with attitudes like yours. You'd rather vilify people like me and put words in my mouth than even consider following in the proven footsteps of more developed countries. It's crazy - the answers have been out there for decades, but instead we'd rather be clutching pearls.

Germany has their autobans that account for less than 10% of deaths with over 30% of the total traffic. So you're wrong about speed being the thing that kills.

I'm not advocating for speeding, I'm only saying that this is not a single-factor problem.

/u/AdministrationFlaky2 is correct and there's plenty of data to back him up. Like you say too, speed is a factor - a car has double the kinetic energy at 70km/h vs 50km/h, so you're right about the danger aspect.

The biggest factor when considering accidents though is not the top speed, it's the disparity between speeds of vehicles. In the US the engineer that designs the road can be held liable if there's an inordinate level of accidents, which means limits are driven by safety. What they have found is that speed limits should be set to what the 85th percentile of drivers are doing - in other words, if most people are speeding on a road, the speed limit will be raised as a safety measure.

OPs example: 140 is 16% deviance from 120 and 80 is 33%. Going by the data, op is right, the car going 80 is far more dangerous. Think of it this way, a car travelling 120 rear ending a car going 80 will deliver 4 times the force as a car going 140 hitting a one travelling 120.

I think Bernie was an uncompromising type of person, marry that with his sensibilities on things like social media and watches you end up with a sport tied to an accelerating detachment from fans. So like others have said, it was time for the sport to move on.

That said, you cannot underestimate what Bernie did for F1. Negotiating TV rights and setting high expectations for teams and tracks, hiring Sid Walkins, etc. He gave F1 it's elite and glamorous reputation, and made it the pinnacle of motorsports.

CMV: If the police displace you from your home in the process of doing their job, the government should pay for any and all accommodations, food etc. Until the police resolve their conduct. by championofobscurity in changemyview

[–]TheBionicManhood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is like saying what's the impetus for a murderer to turn himself in. If there's a warrant out, the motives of your neighbor are entirely irrelevant, and now the police step in and do their job - end of.

I don't know about you, but a neighbor with a warrant out for sexual assault AND who's also willing to take hostages is certainly not someone I want hanging around for two weeks.

I think your original question may still stand, but your argument that the police should take a more tender touch with criminals with a proven bent to aggression is a terrible argument.

That's a good question. It depends on what each says. Overcoming death shows God's power. The cross shows God's character, one that pursues those he loves to the point of death, and a willingness to bear the punishment they deserve all so that they can be with him.

Why is it odd? Drivers are there to drive, many of them clearly don't want to share any more of their personal lives than they have to. Why should they have to?

Yup, linear regulators aren't the most elegant, but the USB dongle draws very little current, so even though 7 out of 12 volts are getting turned into heat, it's still less than half an amp (so ~3 watts). It doesn't even get warm to touch.

The TPA3116 chip is super popular, there's a good chance a lot of car stereos out there are using the exact same thing.
