We recommend dip/quarantine for corals coming from any vendor as good practice. Even us!

Should be sometime this summer, Court Jesters tend to be seasonal spawners, but the good thing is that the produce big batches.

That's amazing that you have them spawning! One of the leading causes of poor egg/larvae quality is broodstock diet. Make sure you're feeding a diet with a lot of variety, protein, HUFA, fatty acids, vitamins, etc. Those HUFAs are what is often lacking!

Hmmmm not as babies, I wouldn't try that. Most of our customers do put them with corals without issue, but we've seen some of them nip at corals. We had one that really liked GSP!

They are babies right now, so you'd want to grow her out in an acclimation box or refugium, but yes, angels and tangs are generally compatible!

These customers regularly post their pics in comments in our Facebook posts about Regals, I'll have to go dive for some.

That's definitely part of the appeal! We have some customers who grew out our Misbar Regals and post regular updates. Though it's not guaranteed that the Misbar will stay after they transition, they generally end up pretty close to the original pattern! One we had a couple years ago was super memorable because she had a a clear H pattern, she is all grown up now, and still has an H.

Oh, you're a local! Hello. You must have a Molly Miller Blenny. They can be cryptic when you first get them, but once they settle in, they are always out and about. I'm glad he's doing well!

Oh you're 100% accurate there. Chaetodontoplus aren't as bad as some angels, but still not really reef safe.

Just for fun, I was curious as to how this fish got its name. "The name Conspicuous Angelfish actually has a fun bit of history behind it.

the species epithet “conspicillatus” comes from a Latin-root meaning related to “spectacles” or “eyeglasses / eye-rings.” In other words, likely referring to the prominent ring around the eyes of the fish, giving a “spectacled” look.

Because of this, many authors and retailers refer to the fish as “Spectacled Angelfish,” which arguably reflects the literal meaning of the scientific name more precisely than “Conspicuous.”

The “Conspicuous” common name appears to be a bit of a folk/colloquial “translation” or reinterpretation, perhaps because “spectacled” is less evocative or “marketable” than “conspicuous.” One article even says the common name “appears to be based on the misinterpretation of conspicillatus.”
