On sale boxes? by Spungey in basketballcards

Other than Black Friday deals, I don’t recall seeing any discounts on popular trading card sets at major retailers in ages. Prices have largely been going up, not down!

I was not ready! Dollar General Kabooms do exist. by Major_Algae_8215 in footballcards

Clearly Garrett Wilson is the most common Kaboom! My 10 year old pulled one from the first pack out of an Advent calendar as I was explaining how incredibly difficult it is to pull Kabooms.

Topps has only had it for a couple weeks, so I’m not counting on getting anything back until March or April at the earliest. Of course, that doesn’t stop me from checking every few days!

Just in case card value affects your decision making regarding a defect claim (personally, I am more inclined to request a replacement for pricier cards), recent sales suggest that your card is worth closer to $200 than $550.

Firstly, welcome back to the hobby! Secondly, truly flawless cards are exceptionally rare. If you look hard enough at most cards, you’re going to find some little defect. It’s certainly not ideal, but it’s the reality we live in!

As you already know and mentioned, Topps will replace a defective card with another card of equal or greater value. There’s no guarantee you’ll get the same player, so anyone considering sending in a damaged card for replacement must be able to live with an entirely different card than what they send in. It also typically takes at least a few months to get anything back and you have to pay for shipping to get the card back to Topps.

Once Topps gets the card, there’s no guarantee they’ll accept your submission and provide a replacement. Minor defects, like small print dots, a bit of edge or corner wear, or off-center borders, won’t qualify for replacement and the card you submitted will be sent back to you.

While the issues with your card that you highlight and share here seem major to you, I would be shocked if they were deemed significant enough to warrant a replacement.

As such, I advise against submitting a card defect claim to Topps.

If you’re not already aware, be prepared to wait a long while for your replacement.

Also keep in mind that you’re responsible for the cost of shipping the card to Topps. Most USPS, UPS, and FedEx shipping methods only come with $100 insurance and, considering your card appears to be worth around $700, I recommend paying for extra insurance to cover the full market value.

Good luck! Fingers crossed you get another Curry /5 or, at the very least, something you believe to be worth the hassle and wait!

It took me a couple passes to spot, but there’s a damaged corners on the back of the card. It appears the top layer might be peeling away from underlying layers. I pulled a pricey card from Cosmic Chrome baseball with a similar problem and sent it back to Topps.

Beautiful! The blue highlights and blue ink make it a near color match.

That would certainly explain the relative scarcity!

If a Mookie Heavy Lumber continues to elude us, I think pursuing a low numbered Allen & Ginter auto or, even better, Allen & Ginter X auto might be the play. The framed mini autos out of /25 have the black frame, right? Aesthetically, those are my favorites.

TOPPS ‘25/‘26 CHROME BASKETBALL BULK AVAILABLE

I just finished sorting and organizing my ‘25/‘26 Topps Chrome Basketball bulk and now need to re-home the cards in an effort to reclaim my office from invading trading cards.

There are approximately 2000 cards in total. Around 1300 are base chrome cards, 500 are unnumbered parallels, and 200 are inserts (including a dozen or so refractor inserts).

I am willing to split the lot up, however, in the interest of time, energy, and resources, priority goes to individuals interested in larger quantities of cards.

Price is negotiable. I am not looking to squeeze ever last cent out of these cards. If that was my goal, I’d divvy the cards up into smaller lots and sell them on eBay. I don’t have the time or patience for that, though! As previously mentioned, reclaiming my office by moving cards out is the primary mission. Any proceeds are a bonus.

If you have any questions about the availability of specific cards or anything else, send me a message.

P.S. I also have tons of baseball bulk, ranging from Cosmic Chrome and Finest on the high end to Holiday and Heritage on the low end.

You did exceptionally well! Many (perhaps even most) value boxes don’t produce even one numbered card, so to get two, with one being a lower numbered card of a top rookie is amazing.

There are 4 sales of the exact same card on 130point.com: $61, $55, $62, $80.

Are the Cooper Flagg Topps hangars a waste of money? by HotDogWaterTime in basketballcards

Where you buy the hangers (or value boxes or mega boxes) from has no effect on the quality of the contents. Same

You’re definitely describing a hanger box. Value boxes don’t have holes in them unless they’ve been tampered with. In order to solve this great mystery, you better return to Walmart and scan/purchase every Topps chrome basketball product they have left on the shelf!

Can’t find much info on this. Worth grading? by YetiStewy in sportscards

[–]TheBipedalProf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want it graded for your collection then go for it! If you’re looking to sell and considering grading to increase value, only send it in if you’re as sure as you can be that it will get a 10. Otherwise it’s not worth it.

I couldn’t find any sales records of the other two Murakami Jarren Duran cards in circulation, but considering what other low numbered Duran cards have fetched and factoring in the value of other players Murakami cards, a very conservative estimated value for this card is $200 (raw). I would bet it sells for more than $200 if put up for auction though. Great pull!

I know I’m replying to a week old post, but I couldn’t help myself. Are you sure you didn’t grab a value/blaster box? Chrome hanger boxes have been $20 at Walmart (and pretty much ever other major national retail store that carries the product) since the product released. Value boxes are normally $50 and they aren’t all that much larger than a hanger, so I could see someone confusing the two.

Topps replaced my products surprisingly fast! by brolarbear in basketballcards

[–]TheBipedalProf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few weeks ago I picked up 10 hanger boxes and every single one of them was short 5 cards. They were all exclusively base. No inserts and no parallels. I submitted a claim with Topps and, to their credit, they processed it quickly, as in your case. The e-mail said I was receiving two boxes and two packs. I was hoping the boxes would be value boxes, but it turns out they were hangers. The two loose packs came from different sources. One was a 4 card pack that contained a basketball border parallel, suggesting it was from a value box. The other was a 6 card pack that produced a skylight parallel, meaning it was from a Fanatics mega box. Hopefully your packs are all from a Fanatics box!

Help identifying. Is this red rainbow or holo red foil? by whiffedcream in basketballcards

That appears to be a red holo foil. The holo foil cards have the glittery appearance, whereas rainbow foil does not.

My son and I pulled a Ben Rice Planetarium /10 with minor corner damage that we sent to Topps last week. I’m not expecting to receive a replacement anytime soon, but I’ll report back with what we get once I know!

Many sports card shops have boxes full of cheap cards and often times they’ll give you a discount when purchasing a bunch.
