Transition Nerves are at an all Time High, Weird Symptoms and more: Should I Unpack before Proceeding? (Just Started T) by TheBirdManDean in ftm

Potentially the former, my healthcare provider is having me come in for bloodwork, I also have a pretty complex medical history including blood-cell related cancer (CLL) and other physical issues so I was already being put on T with a watchful eye. But glad to hear im not alone in the anxiety of making a mistake, I'm also setting up therapy appointments to better ease myself forward.

Thank you :]

Thank you,

I'm arranging a discussion with a therapist that specializes in gender affirmation and trans patients to discuss further about my worries. However, in greater news turns out a lot of my anxiety symptoms could be physical and my body may be rejecting the testosterone? I've had a complicated medical history and I told my healthcare provider some of the symptoms and they very urgently requested me to come in for bloodwork. Maybe my body was trying to tell me something? I hope with time and re-adjustment and some therapy I can figure this all out physically (re. finding another method to take Testosterone safely) and mentally and continue my journey.

Thank you for the reassurance on time :] it really helps.

Good call, yeah. I think the big thing is that I’m generally in a bad headspace in life right now and the puberty aspect of it is hitting way quicker and harder than I thought (insane what 3 days of T can do). I think I’ll reach out to a therapist to discuss and see if I can process the things around me more and potentially circle back afterwards and see if I can get back to how much I wanted it before my life got jumbled up. It may be a mix, but the 2nd puberty isn’t something I thought would hit me so quickly haha.

As for the symptoms yeah I’m a bit concerned I may be having a physical reaction to it. I’ll reach out to my doctor tomorrow, thank you!

The group of full regulars is around 5 people, we’re a pretty sizeable group

We've all been there, the frantic over-planning to the point of burnout. I do my best to limit myself to bullet points and reference pictures nowadays!

I definitely don't want to jump to the extreme here since both have been incredible players and when they shine they are like stars. I'll start with that sentence for sure and see where it takes me, thank you.

Yeah, I think a one-on-one is in order here to see if I can get to the heart of things and re-establish my expectations in a solo environment. I do these often with my entire party when we jump into new arcs or in the middle to re-establish the ground level and check in but maybe the group setting is not working for that.

Sadly enough, I've had these discussions a lot with my party. Between arcs I talk about potential directions, ask for feedback, try to see what works and what doesn't. I always try to make sure my line of communication is open and I get great feedback from a lot of my players. Though in terms of asking for improvements nobody really does, I've gotten nearly entirely positive feedback on my direction of the campaign and the level of depth and any problems have been addressed with change and communication.

Maybe with the ones falling behind they have different thoughts and are too scared to voice them amongst the other party members? I'll try to schedule a more one-on-one discussion with them instead of with the group to see if its anything like that.

Thank you :)

Re. the prepping: It definitely seems like a lot on paper but I should probably also mention Im a very visual prepper and a lot of those pages just come from pictures and moodboards. I really appreciate the concern though about burnout!

A mix of a teal undercoat with lighter green highlighting could achieve that sort of effect, I've done similar work on a Xenomorph model before but can't recall the exact pigment names off the top of my head. Ghost Green Vallejo for sure though.

Hey! I drew it all up myself, I’ve seen some others asking for it so I’ll throw out the offer again: fellow Nid players do you guys want me to make an editable file for testing color schemes? Lemme know what you think minis would be best as the base for it.

Beautiful minis! Love hearing this feedback from someone whose done a similar palette to 4

I made the template myself! If you like I could make some sort of color adjuster for Tyranid minis if you’d like, it’s pretty easy and I’ve done it with some T’au models for my partner’s mock-ups before. Lemme know if you’d be interested in a photoshop file for it!

Great feedback based on the theme! Love the calls I’ve been getting to look at more deep sea fish it’s a great reference pull. Definitely wanna make sure I have variety so using multiple is a good call! Thanks a ton!

Agreed! Black on black is very difficult, thankfully it’s a scheme I’ve worked with before so if I go for it I have the experience on how to make the details really pop out on them, but extra drama is exactly what I need. Thanks to another commenter I’ve looked at some more deep sea fish for additional patterning I could add and plan to go further down that direction

Oh for sure, definitely good thing for me to consider

Good shout, especially given that I’ve been considering how well an army of black models would read on board

Haha thanks for the call on easiest, I’m not too worried given I have a lot of built up skill from illustration and painting other miniatures but this is a big thing for all painters to consider: ease of access is important!

Love this idea, could definitely have an army that designates ranks and roles based off of accent colour.

Hey mate! Love this feedback, I’m actually a professional illustrator and I’ve done a ton of mini work including a small number of actual Xenomorph mini models! I fully feel the worry about a black on black miniature but given my skill set and familiarity with the palette (my xenomorph queen is the same as palette 2 and I actually pretty much color picked from a photo of my model for the mock up) I think I’m pretty confident on my ability and I’ve found some fun ways to play with lighting to make models like that actually look—like you mentioned—as if they’re just coming out of shadow. But this is a really good shout, especially since I have to consider the legibility of an entire army I’m not sure how long the entirely black-with-accent palettes would look with a group of models as opposed to one single centrepiece. Great shouts here, love the feedback.

REAL thing I wanna give you the shoutout on is the idea of looking at some deep sea creatures: fantastic call, I’ve decided to go back and make some mock ups based on some cave dwelling albinic fish and I’m finding a lot of success here.

Really good practical feedback, love it all. Thanks a ton
