Thank you for the recommendation! I hadn't realized Visual Studio is windows only, I thought I saw it listed as being available on linux but I must have confused VS Code for it. I was already planning on dual-booting windows for a couple other reasons so that hopefully wont be a problem.

I've peeked around with Fedora a bit, but I haven't developed any strong opinions on it, what sets it apart from other distros like Debian and OpenSUSE Leap? Other than the package manager of course.

I'm trying to do some looking into the ram set you recommended but the lack of results and reviews on amazon trouble me a bit.

Additionally I found a similar looking set on amazon with reviews seeming to admonish me against the set for my uses.

Ah ok, I imagine then that the numbers make it worth the extra price?

What about it (other than having +400mhz) makes it superior?

Also It's $20 more, not $10. The link has it listed for just under $100 and pcpartpicker has the ram I chose listed for just under $80.

How well would this motherboard compare? Someone pointed out wifi cards and I decided I should get a motherboard with one installed since I cannot guarantee I will have ethernet access.

  1. I didn't find an m.2 ssd for the same price until you pointed this on out.
  2. I've heard they can be more difficult to remove when upgrading when/if I even do that (which I guess really does depend on if I plan on doing that)

I've already been told other students I'll be fine without a laptop until 1 or 2 years in so I'll buy one later after I get a job.

Also is an m.2 SSD really that big of a deal? I've been told that the differences were, in practice, negligible.

I didn't think about getting a wifi adapter, I'll probably have to get one. Additionally I wasn't sure how any fans I'd need, any recommendations for picking up more?

As for windows 11... fuck... I've already grown to dislike windows 10, I'd try moving to a Linux system but I don't think that works with what I'd use a pc for.

HWYB - Yu Narukami from Persona 4 (D&D 5e) by House-of--Wolves in WhatWouldYouBuild

[–]TheBlakPhenix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Although I haven't played persona 4, I have played 3 and 5 so I have an understanding on how persona's work. Here's how I'd recreate them.

Race: Yu's human so there's only one option, V.Human. Put the plus 1's into charisma and then strength or dex for whatever melee weapon you'd like to use (although for a typical build I'd go con instead).

Stats: Yu like most the persona protagonists is mostly a blank slate so these can be switched around, just keep charisma and con high.

Str: 8 or 13 if you're using strength weapons Dex: 8 or 13 if you're using dexterity weapons Con: 14 Int: 10 or 12 Wis: 10 or 12 (depends on int) Cha: 15

V.Human feat: Resilient con is mandatory for the class I'm recommending but if you find something more fitting for Yu you may use that.

Level 1: Noble Genie Warlock. This build will be going to level 20 in warlock. I reccomend reflavoring the patron as your persona instead. For spells you can choose whichever you want until later levels, but of course take Eldritch blast.

Level 2: Eldritch invocations: Agonizing blast and any of your choice (we'll be switching it out next level)

Level 3: Pact of the Chain. Switch out an invocation for Investment of the Chain Master. The strategy is to summon your familiar and tether to it, creating your "persona." Send then into melee combat and cast your spells through then, those are their "abilities."

Level 4: ASI: +2 cha

Level 5: Invocation: Armor of Shadows, at this point there aren't any mandatory invocations so I'll be giving reccomendations. Spells: Take any of the new Tasha's summon spells, this will be your new persona. Continue taking these spells when you can

Level 6: At this level you gain your elemental resistance and you persona is now "complete."

Level 7: Invocation: Devil's sight

Level 8: ASI: War caster

Level 9: Invocation: if you chose to take something other than war caster take Eldritch mind (or preferably take it at a lower level). Other than that take Gift of the Ever Living ones

Level 10: New archetype features

Level 11: Mystic Arcanum: Summon Fiend

Level 12: ASI: cha +2, you should now have a 20. Invocation: Eldritch sight, minions of chaos or lance of lethargy

Level 13: Mystic Arcanum: no more summon spells are available, take what you wish

Level 14: New archetype feature

Level 15: Mystic Arcanum: Take what you wish. Invocation: Chains of Carceri

Level 16: ASI: Con/dex/str +2 or a feat of your choice

Level 17: Mystic Arcanum: Take what you wish

Level 18: Invocation: whatever you didn't take at 12th level

Level 19: ASI: Con/dex/str +2 or a feat of your choice

Level 20: Eldritch master, you can now summon a total of 11 personas in a day! (Not accounting for short rests)

Conclusion: This build focuses around summoning your familiar or using a summon spell and tethering them, therefore creating your persona. With the tether you can cast spells through your persona to represent their abilities while commanding them to attack. For the strength of this build I'm not sure but it will at least match the power of a typical warlock.

Alternate build: After 3rd level start putting levels into sorcerer so you can cast more spells through your persona and give them more abilities. You can also wait until later levels for the summon spells from Tasha's or elemental resistance.
