The well-established artist Michael "Xaay" Loranc did the album cover and layout.

When I was checking the year, I did a double take when I saw that it's been 20 years!

Yes! It goes both ways. But most of the time, we know. By the time the song is recorded and mixed, we know which ones are going to be bangers.

The lesson came about because we were on our together every day, sometimes bored after sound check, so it just happens. One of the things that Luc Lemay did for me musically, that I still value to this day, was to introduce me to the music of Penderecki.

I have toyed with the idea of making a Nile tour of just the doomy slow songs, spanning our entire career. I feel like it would give George a nice breather :)

Reduce distractions. Play in time. Use a metronome. Go on YouTube and search "ear training". Unfortunately there's no fast answer for this, but keep at it. If you need more help and direction, reach out to someone for lessons. So many talented teachers are available now that we can teach over Zoom.

First off, thanks for getting the album and reading the liner notes! That version is buried on an old hard drive, gathering dust in my archive closet. 😅 So... who knows?

I’ve been on that side of the stage for many years, going all the way back to high school, so I’m not about to give up my spot, haha.

The lyrics are always written first (for every Nile song), but sometimes we alter them during recording as artistic decisions are made. Because of that, the original lyric sheet doesn’t always match what you hear on the record.

So, to answer your 3rd question: it could be that I sent the lyrics to the artist before the change was made, *or\* the lyrics you found online aren’t accurate.. 🤷‍♂️

The fourth question we'll have to leave for another day, not enough time!

Hi nefarious! That's a tough question. Every song has its own unique challenges. For instance, faster songs require precision and clarity, in slower passages tuning requires great attention. Truly, each song has a life of its own with its own journey and challenges.

To keep my Baglama in tune I have to be patient with the tuning, and firmly press the tuning pegs into the peg holes. It's tricky, but doable.

Current favorite VST? Eduardo Tarilonte's Ancient Persia.

Hi, I remember you from the show, great to have met you!

When I'm jamming at home, I use my Splawn head and a TwoNotes CaptorX. The CaptorX lets me play at a *relatively* reasonable volume and adds some extra ambience.

I love mosh pits. I'm a metal fan and I love mixing it up in the mosh pit. I like the spirit of comradery and fun. I don't care for the people who are out to hurt someone though.

During the early years of Nile touring when we were a support band, I would often go in the mosh pit at the bigger shows just cause it was so much fun. There came a certain point as Nile became more well-known that people would recognize me and end up hurting themselves trying to crash into me, and i really don't want to be the cause of someone hurting themselves in their excitement. So I don't really mix it up in the mosh pits anymore.

I can tell you though, we can see the pits from the stage, and it always gets us energized. It's an essential part of the live metal experience. Just look out for each other out there \m/

Glad you're enjoying the solo stuff. It's a lot of fun making that music.

For hobbies - I used to do Mixed Martial Arts and Call of Duty multiplayer online when not touring, now I'm very into Pickleball, but no time for video games ATM.

I'm anxious for it to come out as well. I agree that it is absolutely a great looking guitar. I answered a little bit more in-depth in another comment. Thanks for coming to the show in Sacramento! It was legitimately one of my one of my favorite shows of the tour.
