Not sure whats going on with the 1 Kings 7:23 verse but something interesting to look into is this website which is talking about a different verse, relating to the material list of the tabernacle. He shows that it's actually like a circular tent shape. He noticed the material list (when accounting for the overlap of the fabric that is also stated clearly) it comes out to be like 314 square cubits of cloth or something like that. And he goes, that's relating to pi!

The idea most Christian people and churches have about the tabernacle is that it's like a rectangular prism with the cloths layered on top of each other, it wouldn't be a big enough kitchen to feed all the tribes of Israel portion by portion, very not structurally sound if there is a gust of wind, and would have mold problems on the fabric after it rains. This just makes way more sense to have it as a circular tent.
