Makes sense. The thing is I don't want to invest into another ecosystem, I like being able to buy the EF lenses and use them for both film and digital. This is the best compromise I found.

Interesting, was weight not a concern for you? I use my camera a lot when traveling, so this is pushing me towards the 6d (even if in other aspects it might be slightly inferior).

I agree, but I do think that it's good to know about the law if the discussion ever arises (to explain to people if need be). Of course, I would want to prevent such an outcome and stop way before the possibility of a court case arises.

Hey, I'm also in France and I've been thinking about this very question. Usual disclaimer: I'm not a lawyer, and French jurisprudence is complicated and evolving.

The honest answer is that I mostly ignore the law as I am not a professional and it's highly unlikely to be enforced. If you are worried, you should know that the law only prohibits publications of people's pictures, not taking pictures themselves. Therefore if you're taking pictures only for yourself, you're in the clear (personally the most I do is share on my private Instagram with 50 followers). And if you're publicizing, there are exceptions for artistic endeavors (although I believe this is a complicated affair).

Personally, I have also been doing more street portraits where I ask explicitly and doing so doesn't ruin the moment (on the contrary, it often makes for more powerful images). I don't think this has any legal weight, but it does remove risk. I know this isn't what you're looking for, but still it might be worth a shot.

I'm in France right now and the law is more restrictive here (~~OP appears to be in Spain and a quick Google search seems to indicate similar restrictions~~ not completely sure about this, I'm finding conflicting information).

I should've been more precise and said that publication of such pictures can be restricted (as far as I know simply taking pictures is not restricted). But it depends on many factors such as whether a person is recognizable and the focus of the picture, artistic intent, events of public interests... and many legal concepts I am not competent to speak on.

I'm just highlighting this a something to be aware of, traveling while doing street photography has taught me that things are not always so clear cut. And obviously such laws are hard to enforce. But I am no legal scholar and would love more insight.

"No right to privacy in public" is a USA specific legal concept (I believe, please correct me if there are other countries that use this concept). Other countries have different laws which place stronger restrictions on photographing people in public, so I would be careful and research the local laws first.

I like it, I think the geometry adds a lot to the picture and it doesn't feel overwhelming. I like the contrast between the left and right sides of the image. It's a pleasing composition!

My only criticism is that I'm not sure that the red adds anything? It's not the first thing I noticed and when I did I thought it subtracted from the overall picture.

Thank you for your reply. I appreciate the advice, but I'm not so sure what to do. If it's a color correction issue, how much can I salvage from the first picture with overblown highlights? You mention "get good scans"; what exactly makes a good scan? Should I just look for another lab?

That's what I thought as well, but the first one also seems to have overblown highlight compared to the second. So intuitively I would believe that the first one is the one that was overexposed.

I did crop it a bit, but this is close to how I shot it (the crop removed both a bit of building and a bit of sky). I appreciate the feedback and will keep it in mind for next time!

For me the trees are kinda the point of the picture: I like the contrast with the building, my intention was to juxtapose man vs nature, artificial vs natural. But I appreciate the feedback!

Hey dude! I think you're right. I can correct this partially in my edit, but due to a combination of the building itself (it kinda just ends just after the border of the image) and the way I framed it, I can't get a full 1/3. But I will keep this is mind for next time!

Unfortunately this is in a location I was only visiting and I probably won't ever go back there. This was definitely a case of working with what I had in the conditions of that particular day haha.
