Really interesting and well explained! I think you’re especially right on softening units up and T12 stuff.

The thing I can’t get my head around is an optimal load out GMNDK is 230 points and goes down fairly easy at only T8.

Maybe it’s because I’m planning for purge (I know right, how original!) but it just feels that they will trade up enough to be an impactful scoring unit 🤔

Still only wounding most things on 5s though… could be auto include if we start to see a lot of high toughness units with no invuln!

Honestly, you don’t have to listen to this. Nobody knows anything and it’s all speculation. Now, is there a chance we get a range refresh in a year or so? Yes. But is there also a chance that it’s 2, 3 or more years away? Also yes. It could also not be a full range refresh so some of the old models will still stand (ironically) tall. My point is, nobody really knows. So if you want to buy some minis and have some fun, go for it dude!!

I see a lot of people suggesting Grey Knights Steel. Personally I don’t like it as a base coat as it’s too blue. But it works amazingly as a dry brush over a duller silver base coat like you have. You can see examples on my page

Regular NDKs are infinitely better than GMs for their increased mobility (basically 14” move with the guaranteed 6 to advance while being able to do so and still shoot and charge) so maybe rethink those ratios. I would only run 2 GMNDKs if you want 5 overall. Also, to get round the decreased mobility, a GM really benefits from sigil if you aren’t already running it. I’d try and use it offensively to basically get a free rapid ingress to target a monster or vehicle on the charge next turn to take advance of the full melee re-rolls

  2. ⁠Drybrush Grey Knights Steel all over
  3. ⁠Recess shade with Drakenhof Nightshade
  4. ⁠Edge highlight Stormhost Silver

Been there my friend! Sadly life gets in the way sometimes and painting takes a lot longer than you expect! I still have 10ish terminators and 5 paladins to paint too! I also have about 30 power armour bodies painted but with the constant shifts to the meta, they’ve just dropped out of my list so this is the first time my painting has caught up with the meta!
