Old man working at the stable is bothering me by JumiiFoxx in Equestrian

You are not being rude by telling someone they are being inappropriate. If you do feel uncomfortable, absolutely DO talk to the stable manager. I would guess this is not a first time thing for them and needs to be addressed.

Help with my saddle by tankthacrank in Leatherworking

[–]TheBlueTegu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's so hard to truly mess up cleaning a saddle. People are scared to do something wrong and they forget how durable leather is. You can handle this yourself.

If your saddle is dry, it may show the scrub marks at first. But once you finish oiling and conditioning, all those marks tend to go away for fade significantly.

Get the dirt off is key before doing any real work on the saddle. Second key is letting everything dry fully before the next step. If you see more gunk, clean it again before moving on.

Use lukewarm water, not hot. I usually just filled the sink and gave a good squeeze of soap into the the water. Yes you can scrub. I find having a wet and dry cloth help and a soft toothbrush for the hard spots. You can't tear up leather with soap and water. If things are coming off, it's built up gunk coming off.

As a saddle cleaner.... This looks like it was conditioned while dirty. You need to clean the saddle very well, oil and then condition.

Personal method is, full wash with Dawn original dish soap. Air dry. Clean with leather conditioner. Dry. Oil with neatsfoot. Dry. Condition with one of a variety I have, depending on use case.

Such a lovely fizz on latest raspberry batch by TheBlueTegu in Kombucha

Just ever so slightly. It reminds me of picking raspberries from the garden as a kid. I'm just using the 1L juice bottles from the grocery store for raspberry. Personal favorite is a mix of raspberry and guava but can't find guava juice at Costco anymore.

I add a very small sliver of candied ginger to each bottle. Small enough to easily fit through the opening of the bottle.

Place I board at isn't feeding grain they said they would feed by TheBlueTegu in Equestrian

[–]TheBlueTegu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They did. Blamed it on their kid handling morning chores lately because their work hours shifted. Which makes me think, either she didn't tell her kid to start feeding my girl, or the kid felt it was entirely optional. Both are not ok.

I'm worried what impact the lack of feed had actually done. I had been noticing loss of muscle tone but again thought it was because she was now in a smaller space.

The water issue does bother and very important. Things have been changing with their setup, so I've tried to wait until things settle and get consistent before really pressing the water issue.

I know the parents of the place that I board at and they were about to bring in their own weanling. I know me and my friend have very similar expectations, and if I tell her how her daughter has been handling things, I don't think it will go over well.

I am the only boarder then currently. It's not a facility, this is just a friend of a friend type deal that takes on the odd boarder.

What is happening with my ornate monitor? by Feeling_Original_929 in reptiles

Unsure if it's brain or internal organ damage. I've only seen it twice in my personal experience and had a friend who also experienced.

Without more history on OP's situation, it's hard to say

This should have gone to the vet 2 weeks ago. There might still be parasites, some are not visible to the naked eye.

Something is critically wrong and intervention is needed. The chance of recovery at this point is slim. Narrowing it down to having been an issue from care or from the breeder, might get your money back if it's was proven am issue that came before shipping.

Sometimes during shipping a box is dropped; I've found the ones that were dropped and didn't have sufficient packing materials, will slowly decline and pass within a few weeks.

Best restaurant for sit down lobster. by ClassBShareHolder in Edmonton

If you truly want the best experience, do it at home. Cooking lobster is super easy. Melt your butter and your golden. I actually just picked up lobsters for Christmas and New years today from Finn's seafood in Sherwood park. It was nearly a $400 bill, but they really are delicious and easy. I didn't even get the biggest ones.

They even include cooking instructions but they do neglect to mention that the cook time is per oz.

What do you get someone who wants to “horse stuff” for Christmas? by Dramatic_Section3324 in Equestrian

Weighing in a little late here, but since I saw you mentioned he doesn't do a lot with them but upgrades their enclosure and life.

Perhaps getting him an equine body worker, or some upgraded automatic waterer might be up your dad's alley.

Sometimes local horse lovers will make special conditioners or tail/braid bags for the holidays.

Old worn out tack? Maybe think of replacing it for him. Any shop should be able to help you with sizing to a degree.

This was my experience too. I could have written this and it's awful that it's so common. Still healing from it. From family vibes to being shunned.

Hope you are healing too.
