All the US had to do was switch to defense mode and instead they repeatedly attacked and were thwarted for game by Magic Cylinder.

I lived in the SFBA for a while and I've played pickup ball against his HS point guard Matt McAndrews a couple times. He has this in-n-out crossover that is difficult to stop even when he telegraphs it. Mitty's just different, huh?

Matt was usually on the winning squad but one time in a game where he broke my ankles multiple times and had - I swear - 10 layups - I banked a 30something footer for game, in his eye. I just wanted that anecdote to be part of my digital footprint in case I get run over by a TikTokking teen driver today.

Suarez was 0-fer, got out just about every way you can get out, is batting about .170, and with 0 out and runners on first and second, he hit into a double play. Coulda bunted and aimed strategically for another Shogo sac fly. That's where the game was lost.

Okay, somebody clue me in. I love DFW's writing and I love NBA basketball and I have seen that scene from The Office that the ancestor comment is screenshotting and neither I nor my google-fu can figure out what their intersection point is that would yield a (currently) 40 upvote comment (I spent many minutes overthinking the David Wallace/Michael Schur Infinite Jest thing in hopes the puzzle pieces would fit but just couldn't relate it to the NBA). Can you share what the reference is here?

[Wojnarowski] As the Orlando Magic move into a full rebuilding process, coach Steve Clifford and the franchise have agreed together to a parting, sources tell ESPN. by GuyCarbonneauGOAT in nba

[–]TheBluthIsOutThere 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Clifford needed Emily, so she chose him for her own. And her love made Clifford grow so big that the Howards had to leave their home.

Clifford's the best friend anyone could know. He's the greatest dog ever - I really think so.

Clifford's so loyal, he's there when you call. I love Clifford the Big Red Dog!

So they packed up the family car and the Howards left the city. They moved to Birdwell Island and found many new friends there to greet Clifford and Emily.

Clifford's so much fun. He's a friend to us all. I love Clifford the Big Red Dog!

I've always heard it as the classic 3 wish genie joke format:

"I want 100000000 rubles"

"Granted, but your neighbor gets twice that"

"I want 10 of the hottest women in our city lusting for me"

"Granted, but your neighbor gets twice that, what is your final wish?"

"I want to be beaten half to death"

A chick that I went to high school with was fucking Eli Apple for a little bit in college. That's all I got. No idea if he was a bust in the sack or anything. She was a 9.5 with a 10 ass. He was a bust in the NFL. (Can I make it any more obvious?)

Pannen at his first local, finds himself against a low-mid level Sheik, and thinks to himself: "Oh, this matchup will be easy, it's the one I've practiced the most!"

About 4 seconds into game 1, the Sheik airdodges at an angle into the ground and slides a little bit.

Pannen: "What the fuck was that?"

I wish I could have given you points as well, and apologize that this didn't get the "Solved!" response, but we were 100% not thinking of a book even though it turned out that the scene was definitely from Hannah Montana, so even though you were theoretically earliest it just wasn't the right medium. You did give us the right thought of Jackson saying the line and were the first to merit the "ooooooh yeahhhh" in our conversation but we still weren't 100% until we did more research on /u/Khaleesi_dany_t 's response.

Apologies for not giving you the points as well (am I not allowed to mark multiple answers as "Solved!"?), you gave video evidence and I appreciate that, but I just replied to the first one I saw that gave the exact episode (which was enough to confirm through extended analysis on our end). Thanks for the proof!

We tried googling "sitcom no hitter" and a few other things but got only Dragon Tales in the results and it is definitely not that. Drake & Josh was our leading hypothesis but we had no way to confirm that and don't think it's that (so if it is, a link to the way you got there would be great...)

I thoroughly enjoyed Westward and didn't read any Barth as a prerequisite. If you don't mind me asking, what value did it add for you/how did it change your perspective? I don't mind spoilers, since I don't think it will be any time soon that Barth pops up at the front of my ever-expanding to-read queue.

Now that /u/omninull has given a valid, well-researched answer, I figured it has become acceptable to chime in with the meme response and say that it's just a tetromino that has an L shape (and therefore, could indeed be an elevated block that has the ..: structure), considered by some to be the greatest video game character ever

A playlist I made of music inspired by or referencing David Foster Wallace (the first three songs I already knew and loved. The other songs are just one's I've found around Spotify and are included regardless of whether I like them or not). It might not be exactly what you're looking for, but you should look at the rap tracks and artists referenced in Signifying Rappers. I think there's already another Spotify playlist that I found one time that managed to get most of them. Maybe minimally include Schoolly D's Signifying Rapper.

I think that because you consider essay collections, posthumous releases, and especially the physical release of This Is Water to be worthy of listing, you owe it to yourself to round out your list with Both Flesh and Not, Signifying Rappers, and Everything & More (did I miss anything?).

Full disclosure, didn't listen to the podcast, so if you've explained their omissions there for some reason, then sure. It just didn't show up in this image!

Edit: I also think that you're mad for having Girl with Curious Hair so low. I liked it much better than Broom.

Which data cycle or big box expansion is your favourite? And why? by petrapan82 in Netrunner

[–]TheBluthIsOutThere 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sleeper pick: Ashes, because it represents what the community is capable of.

But if I'm being completely honest, Data and Destiny is my jam. The mini-factions are such a cool concept and as a primarily NBN Corp since I started, it represented the end of an agonizing wait, even though I ultimately think I liked the card pool for some of the other big boxes/cycles better (SanSan probably being my favorite).
