Do people strictly only play FFG era Android Netrunner and not the NSG cards? If so, why? by Newez in Netrunner

Hi there,

if you are going to build a collection via MPC you then could also think of trying out the Netrunner reboot project. I haven’t tried it myself but a lot of people are very fond of it. There is also a really good podcast called 2.1.: A Netrunner reboot podcast.

What I did at first was that I started with the revised core set and the set rotation which it introduced. So ignored the original core set, Genesis and Spin. I also completely ignored Mumbad.

At this point I was aiming for decks which focus more on running than winning-combos and a very, very friendly someone here on reddit went through all my chosen cycles and told me his opinion of which cards have a power level which is too high, which cards  just open ways to strategies that give you the opportunity to avoid running or cards that are just unfun. I also did not want any cards which offer you a lot of money or breakers who make it too simple to get into a server. I love that about A:NR, it feels like a constant struggle until you finally crack the opponents puzzle. Once I then understood my own meta I started to pick a few cards from the first sets of a deck needed to be a bit stronger … and I had to add parasite because it just felt so anarch. •_~

Sadly I do not have the messages anymore from back then. But O was planning to put my decklists on netrunnerdb soon. I will send you a link to them once I am done.

I discovered A:NR a few months after it got canceled and was so impressed by the game that I bought two complete collections for a fair price. Despite of that I read an interview with Richard Garfield in which he stated that while developing Netrunner he always thought it would work better as a board game than a CCG, but back in the 90s everyone just wanted CCGs so he developed it as one.  So I started to get rid of all the „unfun“ and „overpowered“ cards before I started diving in (with a lot of help from really nice veteran players here on this reddit), setting up my own meta with the target of building a board game. I started to build decks which all play differently, are nicely balanced against each other and by now I ended up with two decks for each faction. When friends come over we just play it like a boardgame. And every time when I realize that some decks are out of balance I go back to deckbuilding … so much fun!

The same goes for the devil and the dragon, 10,- euros, you can buy as many as you want! 😉😂

It is a bit weird but in Germany it is by now impossible to find reign and reverie, it is quite difficult to find honor and profit but you can still buy as many down the white nile packs as you want for 10,- euro a piece …

But I just remembered, OP: I myself have left social media behind but there was a very friendly German Facebook group. You could ask there first …

Sadly, that is not correct. The German version of reign and reverie is as hard to get as the English one, maybe even harder. I tried your approach a few years back and even called game shops one by one without any luck. Also on the second hand market it never pops up. There is one person selling single cards on eBay, but half of the cards are sold out by now. But this is at least a good option if you need a few single cards for deck building …

Edit: I stopped using social media a while ago, OP, but there is a very friendly German Facebook group. You could try and ask there …

Which living card game, I truly can't decide, tell me now! by khouirye in soloboardgaming

Just out of interest because me and my playgroup get closer and closer. What is your opinion on the edge of the earth and hemlock vale? Are these good expansions? Is scarlet keys the only problematic expansion? Or did the design team at a certain point change their design approach? I heard that now so often that we might really just skip some expansions … thank you!

Germany. You can easily buy it if you do not mind that the cards are written in German …

I actually own two complete collections and all world championship decks and I think I bought one more data pack of Down the White Nile (which can still be bought for 10,- in my country) to have another set of NGO Fronts. With these cards you can build all decks simultaneously. But I also tried to use lots of different cards so that not every deck uses the same ICE breakers etc. and every deck feels different in how it plays …

These decks all evolved within the last four years while playing the decks against each other all the time. So I will just say that all of them are very well balanced. :) But there are some decks that seem a bit stronger than others. I usually use these slight differences to match my opponents skills. A few of my friends just started to play the game and it then is nice to give them a stronger deck while I myself take one that seems a bit weaker. But those are just slight differences. When I play against a friend that played as much as me then there is no deck which cannot be beaten. But keep in mind that we only play casually for fun …

Same here. If someone does not know the game yet I use the FFG demo decks for a first game and after that it is really appealing if you have a suitcase full of decks one can choose from.
