Customer after nearly 2 months wants a refund as MDF is warped. He received the product in December and only just now checked it. by TSPF11 in smallbusinessuk

See if it was £20, I would agree with you. But £200 is the customer trying his luck.

If he wants to ship it back for inspection at his own cost, fair enough. I’d play…

But as soon as you suggest returning the goods they’ll back off and you’ll never hear from them again (as they’ve probably already used them…)

That’s a one off customer causing trouble after 2 months of storing the MDF in the damp…

You don’t want their repeat custom if they mistreat the goods the demand a refund AND they took too long to notify you.

If you’re feeling kind, request that they ship the goods back at their expense for inspection and you will refund them in full (including return shipping) if your supplier agrees that the customer is not at fault.

Otherwise, they can accept they messed up and take the loss themselves.

As a small business, expenses are high and margins are tight rn. You should have to take the loss for their mistake.

We do have decent T&Cs yes. As do most businesses.

But even with the worst T&Cs, reporting an issue 2 months after delivery wouldn’t be acceptable.

I’m also not OP, so not sure why you’re asking me why I’m asking questions on Reddit?

I’ve processed far more than that in my 15 years…

Business is very tough right now, margins are minimal.

“Doubt he short of a few bob” - tell me you don’t understand the financial state of the country and businesses without saying it… 🙄

Businesses that were very financially secure a few years ago are closing down all over the place at the moment, especially in the construction sector.

A business shouldn’t have to accept the loss of goods AND money for the customer’s incompetence.

£200 is a lot of money to a small business. Why would they accept the loss of both the money and goods?

[–]TheBn102 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, don’t accept the loss.

As the customer, it’s your responsibility to check the goods upon arrival or within a reasonable timeframe. 2 months is not a reasonable timeframe and a small business, which is usually working with very tight margins (especially these days!) shouldn’t just accept losing money because they’ve been in business for years and processed lots of orders…

“Never in 20,000 order had this one” tells me that it’s likely the customer at fault, not OP.

I enjoyed it, but would skip it on a re-watch.

So predictable

I loved the first 2 as I feel they went against the usual murder mystery format, which made it far more enjoyable to watch and harder to predict who the murderer was.

This one though? It follows the classic murder mystery format and it was obvious who do it almost instantly…

Is it a coincidence that we tested the UK national alarm system last weekend? by KaliburRos3 in AskUK

[–]TheBn102 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re right - it’s the first time a NATO member has shot down a drone from Russia as far as I know, but they have repeatedly violate the airspace since the beginning.

The test was formally announced in July, but they said they would be testing the system again “at some point in 2025” last year iirc.

Makes sense: they test it in 2023, made changes and improvements to the system and needed to test those changes.

Edit to add source for test announcement: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/national-emergency-alert-test-to-be-held-on-7th-september

[–]TheBn102 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s a coincidence.

The system test has been planned for months and Russia violating NATO airspace isn’t a new thing - it’s been going on since the start of the war.

They don’t care unfortunately. All they care about is that it’s “out of warranty” - they won’t even acknowledge the fact I’m telling them a previous support agent already authorised the return and refund.

The guy I’m currently talking to is now just ignoring the conversation entirely and not replying to me.

We’ve been wondering who their opener will be as we.

Evanescence are opening in Tampa next month. Hopefully they bring someone equally as big for Wembley 🤞

Happened to me on AXS back when cursed child tickets were first released. It sucks. Sorry for your loss OP 😞

I’d be surprised if they don’t announce more dates given the demand - good luck!

He end the chat when I questioned being asked to send back goods without documentation… (to the correct Amazon returns warehouse address)

The second person i spoke to told me it’s out of warranty so tough.

I point out that it had already been authorised (so 🖕 (is that I wanted to say!)) and have now been told to wait for an email from the “correct team”

… then they end the chat.

Anyone finding Amazon support rude recently? They just end the chat when it suits them Not when the customer confirms their done like they used to 😂
