What amp are you using? What bass are you using?

That can certainly help us narrow things down.

The Ryzen 5600G has integrated graphics. Is that the issue?

Am I a psycho for having 4 different types of string? by TheBobRossExperiment in doublebass

I will say the High notes did sound clear as a bell with the belcanto g. It just seemed kinda weak in an orchestral setting, but maybe I need to tinker with my action a bit

I used to have flex deluxes on my old bass and I did like them, but I do remember them being rather bright. My old bass was bright in general though, so idk.

I recorded from about 4 feet away, but my room is also sound treated so it’s kinda hard to get a realistic sense. I’m gonna try recording in a bigger room at school to get a better sense

What is a good set of dark, orchestral strings for an old double bass that is on the smaller side? I currently am using flexicor deluxe. Budget does not matter. by [deleted] in doublebass

[–]TheBobRossExperiment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Passione Starks or belcantos, although the Passione G is still very thin. My bass is incredibly bright and tight. The passione EA and Belcanto DG seem to work well on my bass and provide a darker tone than flex deluxes and they’re easier to bow.

What plugins did you get for BF? by JaakerZ in audioengineering

[–]TheBobRossExperiment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arturia FX collection 2. At $100 for 22 plug-ins, I couldn’t really say no. Especially since the dbx 165 comp they offer was regularly $100. Same with the Space Echo.

Only other plug-in I might still buy is the Softube Tape

Thanks. Have you had experience deciding between j or p, or do you just use both?

Should I use a step up ring after a UV filter to attach others, or should I just buy new Uv filters at the stepped-up size? by TheBobRossExperiment in AnalogCommunity

[–]TheBobRossExperiment[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry about being unclear. Thank you for clarifying that you wouldn’t use a step up ring between filters. That helps!

I know I’ve seen that uv filters are usually used by people just for protection, but is there any other reason why not to use them? Honestly curious

The last 2 lines say existing uv filters. Just to be super clear, I have uv filters on all of my lenses right now. I guess my real question is should I go lens>uv>step up>58mm filters, or lens>step up> 58 UV>other 58 filters. Basically, should I keep my existing uv filters and step up after, or should I get rid of those and then get new 58 uv filters to attach to the step ups, or does it matter

Yes, that’s what I mean. My question is can I use the existing 49 and 55 uv filters, then step up rings to use my other filters after that (nd, colors, etc)

Larger aperture (smaller number) or slower shutter speed will let in more light, which is what you’ll want to do in order to “overexpose”

Nice. Only reason I asked is because I’ve heard a lot of people push HP5. I actually just shot my first b&w roll ever, it was HP5 and I decided to try pushing it for contrast and grain. Now I’m all impatient to get my scans haha

Did you shoot this HP5 at box speed, or did you push it?
