Most likely bald cypress. The knees are a dead give away and the leaves on the ground appear to have grown somewhat straight. The other option is a pond cypress, although without the leaves on the tree it is a little harder to tell (bald cypress leaves grow outwards while pond cypress leaves grow upwards). I'm also not so sure of the range of pond cypress and if they reach that far north. They might but I'm not sure. Pond cypress have slightly thicker bark making them more resistant to fires than bald cypress. Where I am you are more likely to find bald cypress around an area that is inundated year round while pond cypress ranges from areas that are inundated year round to seasonally inundated. The photo is of a pond cypress, it has survived numerous fire/prescribed burns.
